Pluma Lounge — Restaurant in Saint Petersburg

I rarely leave reviews, but my experience at Pluma was so atrocious, I feel compelled to warn others about the appalling treatment we received. From the moment we stepped inside, the hostess was incredibly rude and dismissive. We were told we weren’t allowed to wait inside, and she made sure to emphasize that it was a “high-end” cocktail lounge, as if that somehow made us unworthy of being there. When we politely asked if we could wait outside, she acted like we had insulted her, clearly irritated by the very suggestion.

To make matters worse, she proceeded to watch us like we were criminals standing outside the establishment. When I expressed how upset I was by her treatment, she had the nerve to laugh in my face. It was beyond unprofessional and disrespectful. For a place that prides itself on being “exclusive,” it sure has a severe lack of basic decency.

From her attitude, I doubt this was an isolated incident; it was a blatant display of arrogance and a complete disregard for customer service. There are plenty of other places in town that treat their patrons with respect—this one doesn’t deserve your time or money. Do yourself a favor and avoid this...

For years I have watched restaurant after restaurant introduce their "bar programs" with the same tired fare. How many Paloma riffs or gimlet spinoffs can we justify paying $15 for? So when I saw the menu for pluma I was ecstatic to try it. Sure the prices are high, but for once they reflect the effort put into the drink, and not the trendiness of the establishment. I got to try the Flip the Script (I love a well textured flip), the seeking clarity, and the dip baby dip. Every drink I tried was unique with gramable, but not overdone, embelishments. The flip and the dip were delicious. The clarity wasn't my favorite because I'm not a huge fan of light carbonated, but I couldn't deny how cool it was and the craft behind it.

So happy to add this to my list of best cocktail experiences in town. I'll save it for special occasions, but I'll enjoy...
