Read moreRude, arrogant and TERRIBLE service. Service has sadly GONE DOWNHILL (sorry). The (older) woman bartender should be given mandatory retirement!!!!!!!!! Clearly, she cannot handle 5… did I say, 5 patrons sitting at the bar, and no one had food… She is not even friendly when she greet you and then forget about ordering food… she is too “busy”, and when she came back she says, “what do you want?”. When we walked in there were 2 gentlemen finishing their mimosas, and 1 lady having her drink at the their end of the bar. We sat down to celebrate Mothers Day… we waited 4 minutes for her to ask us if we wanted to order a drink, (which we did) and then “we” had to ask for a menu. She had time but did not offer to review the specials. I held me hand out to receive the menu and she did not hand it to me, she pushed the menu to me on the bar. Ok….. then she did not acknowledge us for another 20 minutes. Another couple sat down next to us… and she walked over to them like we were not even there… when the couple asked her if she was new… she rudely snapped back, No, I have been here since day 1… over 18 years… this must be your first time in”. When they said that they come in all the time, she ignored them with no response. Not even, nice to meet you, welcome back, offer her name, ask theirs… nothing. Just poured them some water and again, pushed menus in front of them. (I have never been pushed a menu at the Parkshore bar seat… or anywhere at Parkshore, in fact. She then walked away… and on the other side of us, picked up the closed tab cover, where the 2 men had already left. Again, still did not even look at us. Finally, she heard us discussing the rudeness and poor attention with the couple next to us… 3-4 minutes later… ( and there are still only 5 of us at the bar)… she says, “What do you want”…. No smile, no apology for the time that had passed, did not ask if we had any questions about the menu, (as all other servers have done for the past 18 years, (as I too, am a local and have been a regular patron all these years and thank goodness I have never seen her or I probably would have never come back)., to answer her rude, cannot be bothered question, I just said, the check… and explained to her that it is Mothers Day, my mom passed away and my daughter was not able to be with us because her dad just had open heart surgery, and that her attitude, lack of attention and rudeness has ruined my Mothers Day. At that point, I also ssaid that we just paid to park the car with the valet for nothing but to be dismissed by her. LOL… she offered to validate the parking… REALLY….. thanks I still had to pay $10 for nothing,
The hostess that answered the phone was so arrogant as to say, let me see if he has time… she asked for my name and what it was concerning, so I gave her my name and told her I had a complaint and is why we left, moments ago. She put me on hold and 30 seconds later came back to tell me that the manager is too busy because it is Mothers Day and if I could call back next week when he may have more time. I reiterated that I felt this is important, and she said, “I don’t know what to tell you, he cant talk today”. I asked if I should type up a review instead and she said, “you can do what you want.” So, here I am.
In my opinion, the Manager has NO control or hospitality standards of the staff. I cannot tell you how disappointed we were… again, the bartender Should be forced to retire or just plain fire her! She has no business working with the public in a hospitality position as there was not a hospitable bone in her body. She is cranky, negative, arrogant and lazy.
The Manager (and Owner Group) needs to remember that we have choices as to where to dine in St. Petersburg and where to...
Read moreA lot of restaurants have started adding a daily feature. Parkshore has been doing it forever. Chef Tyson's Feature is a 4-course special dinner selected by the chef, and made from fresh local ingredients. What's nice is that you can order any item a la carte if you want. We shared two starters: Parkshore Oysters - Roasted, with Applewood Smoked Bacon, Thyme, and Parmesan Butter. (From the regular menu.) We order these frequently and they are super delicious! From the feature menu we selected Florida Stone Crab Claw with Pink Grapefruit, Easter Egg Radish, Baby Swiss Chard, and Champagne Mustard Vinaigrette. I'm not usually a big fan of grapefruit and wouldn't have ordered this on my own, but Lori wanted to try it. Once again, I'm reminded that Lori never chooses anything that isn't amazing. All of these ingredients mixed together created a sweet, savory and refreshing tasty treat. (Note to self: Never question Lori's judgment on food decisions.) Lori chose a regular menu item for her main, and I chose one of the daily specials. I love it that my girlfriend is a total carnivore, even more so than I am. She loves her steak, and it better be darn good because she is a connoisseur. The Grilled Sliced Petite Filet Mignon certainly fit the bill. With the accompanying Sautéed Onions, Mushrooms, and Buttermilk Mashed Potatoes, this was certainly a dish that will have you saying; "Oooh mommy! That certainly satisfied my craving for Umami!" The steak was cooked perfectly, tasted great and was extremely tender. Here's one more measure of excellence for you - Lori puts salt on 90% of her food. She didn't salt this. That means they hit it out of the park. I couldn't resist the catch of the day. Pan Roasted Local Kitty Mitchell Grouper. (How's that for a name?) This local fish was caught that day by FishBusterz off of Madeira Beach. It was one of the best grouper meals I've ever had. It was quite tender, but still had a nice meatiness and buttery flavor to it as well. There were two extremely tasty, interesting, and unique accompaniments. A shrimp Ragout with Niman Ranch Smoked Ham, which was succulent. There were grits, and as soon as I hear "grits", you've got my attention. But these were a special kind of grits, not made from corn. They were made from black quinoa and white rice from Mississippi. Don't you just the love uniqueness and creativity! They were creamy, buttery, sweet and savory. Finally, my delectable dish was topped off with Baby Red Chard Salad fresh picked that day from Water Crest Farms in Bradenton. Like I said - fresh and local. We've always had great meals at Parkshore Grill, but this was the best one ever. Something else that speaks to the quality of a restaurant is when there is little staff turnover. I don't know how long our server Matthew has been working at Parkshore, but it seems like forever. He made us feel like royalty, but I'm guessing he makes everyone feel that way. It's important to support the new guys, but let's remember the old standbys that have been with us through thick and thin too. Go to Parkshore Grill and be amazed. (Thanks to Steven Mccreary for some of the extra background info.) Here are some of my other favorites at Parkshore: Parkshore Martini Zyr Vodka, Blue Cheese stuffed Olives Ale Battered Shrimp and Cheese Grits with Andouille Ragout, and Smoked Chili Oil (for brunch). Stuffed Meatballs with Maytag Blue Cheese center and Cabernet Sauce. Parkshore Salad - Spring Greens, Candied Pecans, Blue Cheese, Dried Cranberries, Creamy...
