Staff here is excellent- the owner however is atrocious. I've come to realize that the owner offers certain respect & courteousy towards you if you're dressed a certain way. When a group of lady friends & I came into this establishment very well dressed in expensive shoes & dresses, the owner had no problem with us taking photos/video of the art- didn't say a word, chatted us up. Extremely courteous.
However, when I passed by & saw the owner talking to someone in the window, I returned in jeans & a tank top two weeks later. I whipped out my phone to show the girls "I'm back!" & I was told by the owner "Uhh, no pictures in here." When I politely aplogized & mentioned that he allowed us to take photos last time, that I'd been in a couple times & wasn't told to put my phone away- he scowled at me & repeated in an slow voice, "There's NO photography in here." & dismissed me by turning to finish his conversation.
In writing it doesn't seem all that rude, but the way I was treated by myself in a tank top was vastly different than how my group of attractive, well dressed friends & I were treated & thats not right. We've all got videos on our phone of us talking with him- for him to treat me so rudely because I wasn't dressed impeccably that day is misogynistic. If I could leave half a...
Read morefirst off, we walked in the store because me and my friend are really interested on making a piece of art to put up in the gallery, we walked in and asked one of the employees how the process would be and her response was they only do known artists or artists that are either close to the owners or the owners have seen them in galleries, which is an acceptable response, however, we would’ve loved for someone to at least review and inspect the art piece. after asking those questions we walked around the place we saw about 2 art pieces that were interesting and that were good quality and original and not prints. the art itself seems very kitsch, with excessively loud colors with lack of color theory knowledge, there was also several pieces that seemed unfinished low skilled and the outrageous price of $5k to $6k which is an insane price for the art piece, the way we could describe these pieces is child drawing of a shark and other sea creatures, un-painted and un-finished look. the way we felt when we walked in was being watched and followed throughout the store. for people interested in professional art i highly discourage people from coming...
Read moreMay 23rd @ 2:15pm. I assist people with developmental disabilities. A client asked to see art work today. So I told her about Ocean Blue. To my surprise, staff was RUDE to say the least. I have been several times and NEVER experience such a rude and unprofessional group of people. The lady to the front counter did not acknowledge us, yet stared. So I told her we were just there viewing the gallery. She said ok. And continue walking. While we entered the back of the gallery she panic and ran to the back to just watch us as if we were going to steal something and run out the emergency exit. I have NEVER felt so embarrassed!!! Remember people, you dont have to look rich to have money!! Sadly, what she didnt know my husband spoke to someone previously in regards to a painting he was interested in purchasing. But they WILL NOT get my money!!!! We have two businesses and well capable of purchasing whatever we want!!! Dont discriminate us base on color or because we wasnt dressed to your standards! HIGHLY...
