Alexanders is a farm to table type of restaurant, which works well with my diet restrictions. It's good to know exactly what is in my food! We've wanted to try them out, and I don't know why it took so long!! We went for brunch on Saturday at 11:15a - and it wasn't crowded. They are part of the Inn at the Creek and the grounds and ambiance is lovely! We chose to sit on the deck and had a beautiful view of the creek. Service was excellent - and they did not rush you at all. The menu is limited for both brunch and dinner, but I think there is something everyone would like. We started with the freshly made biscuits - which came with house made jam and butter. Today's was peach and OMG..it was SO good!! I had to stop myself at one, although my husband had two! It's hard to get a biscuit light and tender, and these were both. I'm drooling again thinking about them!! I had the spring onion omelette, and he had the crispy chicken and waffles. The omelette was french style, not puffy, and light colored, but cooked nicely (I'm not a fan of goopy type eggs!). The potatoes were also more like a french style - not browned, but seasoned well and cooked til fork tender. It came with a fresh mix of salad greens and lemon/olive oil to pour on top. Very tasty and a nice light meal because I needed to make it to dessert! The chicken and waffles were done well also. He loved that they deboned the thighs, and they were crispy and juicy. The waffles were quite good also. I'm not sure how he ate the whole thing, but he did!! We decided to skip dessert because we were pretty funny! But our lovely waitress Janai gave us a complimentary piece of their sponge cake with lemon cream filling to go. WOW..it was amazing..and they almost had me at the blueberry bread pudding..but we were full! Next time..definitely dessert! I included some pics of the lovely scenary also. The Inn also looked like a wonderful place for a...
Read moreThis was me and my wife's first visit.
First off, the restaurant is absolutely beautiful. Set in an old Victorian styla home in a beautiful area near a running creek. The decor was charming and they did a great job with utilizing each room for all the dinning, as well a beautiful bar upstairs.
We both started with the one of their crafted cocktails. Both were very good.
Overall the food was good. We started with the crab cakes for our appetizer. The were very tasty! My wife ordered the beef tenderloin and I ordered the ribey. Both were ordered medium cook. Hers came out more rare, almost bloody, and mine was came out medium-well. My wife sent hers back to cook a bit more, I kept mine. The flavor was there, but it was a little tougher being over cooked. My wife enjoyed hers after it was corrected. As for the deserts, I had the bread pudding and my wife had the Creme' Brule. My wife enjoyed hers but said it nothing special, but good. As for my bread pudding, it was served in a iron skillet with ice cream, but it was more ice cream than bread pudding and the bread pudding was over baked/burnt on the bottom. It was definitely not a traditional Irish bread pudding and not worth the cost. I will say our service was outstanding! Everything came out reasonably quick and our server was very attentive and pleasant. Overall we really enjoyed ourselves. Great drinks and appetizers paired with a great atmosphere and service, made for an enjoyable evening. Just be prepared for a hefty bill! For just the two of us, it was...
Read moreMy partner and I have always enjoyed eating at Alexander's and the service is always great (make a reservation and ask for Amy). The front desk needs some definite improvement. We always request a specific table when making our reservation but the last time we had dinner there we were seated at a different table but requested our table as the people were leaving as we were being seated - they could have asked us to wait a few minutes and our table would be ready as the people who were seated at it were preparing. And then when we were seated at our requested table the staff was very surly and made it very clear that they were unhappy with us. Then on this last Wednesday I called from Dalhart Texas and made a dinner reservation for Saturday evening at 6:30. When I called on Saturday afternoon to confirm our reservation they indicated that they didn't have our reservation but could fit us in at 8:00. I told them no and that we would find someplace else to eat in Salado. I checked Open Table and it indicated that there were open times at 6:30 and 7:15. I called Alexander's back and asked about a reservation and told them about the opening times per Open Table and they indicated it was a technology issue and they didn't have those times available but they could squeeze us in at 7:30. I told them that was to late in the evening and we ended up eating at another fine dining restaurant in Salado. Don't know if we will go back as we usually eat Alexander's at least once...
