I get the impression from other reviews amd the general vibe of this place that it probably used to be really great and delicious to go here, like years ago. I was not faced with a positive experience however. When I walked in there were no other customers except a group of old people already seated and eating their food. I looked at the menu for a bit, and let a couple go ahead of me. So there was ONE order ahead of me. The hispanic lady at the counter was nice and polite, complimented my name and all that, I paid, and sat down and waited for my food. I wanted to eat my food at home, so I got it to go. Seems like things would go okay, right? WRONG. Shortly after that, about 20 customers showed up both in the lobby and drivethru, and things got more busy. I ended up waiting 30 MINUTES just for my damn chicken tender dinner, watching many customers who came in after me get their food first. Finally, after I was about to stand up and confront the lady I was handed my food. The food was hot and pretty good, but the coleslaw was gross and flavorless, tasted vaguely like mayonnaise.. The overall look of the restaurant seems like it's meant to be cool and retro 1950's American like Rock n' Rodgers, but it really isn't because it's quiet and run down, with two possibly overly worked hispanic ladies running the place. Also, everything on the menu is severely overpriced. I definitely will NOT be returning. I'm all about supporting local business and all, that's why I bothered to come in the first place but one would be much happier if they just went to DQ, Jack in the box, Carl's JR, or even the fricken WALMART DELI because this was a complete...
Read moreThis was my first time trying the Burger Basket. I have been wanting to try it for a long time, but for some reason never have. I should have stopped in years ago!
I was surprised as soon as I walked in the door. The dining area is A LOT bigger than I anticipated. It's much bigger inside than it appears from the outside. It is decorated like an old fashioned burger joint. The walls are white with a red trim and there are a lot of Coca Cola memorabilia adorning the walls, along with vintage pictures of cars and various diners.
I ordered a giant burger with Chili, Cheese and 2 extra patties and no buns. I didn't realize that the patties were a half lb each. I managed to finish it, but it was a challenge. It was delicious! Next time I'll get it with only one extra patty, though. Lol.
My girlfriend ordered a french dip. She enjoyed the sandwich and the Au Jus was tasty. Her "Small" fries was larger than a large fry at many places. Her Sprite tasted off. I informed the staff that the syrup had run out and they quickly substituted it for a Dr. Pepper, which tasted like it's supposed to.
The staff is very friendly and the ladies working today were dual lingual. They spoke Spanish and English. The lobby and the bathroom were clean and the food was served quickly. The prices were reasonable for the food that we got. My only complaint is that the parking lot is small. Luckily, we came when they weren't busy, so it wasn't an issue.
Would I recommend this extablishment? Yes. Will I come...
Read moreNO CREDIT/DEBIT- The first sign I saw inside was a large "We Reserve the Right To Refuse Service to Anyone." Nice way to make us feel welcome. What these folks should be flying is a giant banner outside that says "Cash Only." I was surprised to learn, after placing my order, that for the first time since a mid-90's camping trip to the Black Hills, I would have to use a third-party ATM because the owner stubbornly refuses to acknowledge that in the 21st century, accepting credit/debit cards is an expected accommodation. Yes, I know that accepting cards requires payment of a 3% merchant fee. But I'm willing to see the menu prices increase by 3% because today, my $6.50 burger cost me 30% more thanks to a $2 ATM convenience fee to use the on-site machine. As for the food, the burger itself was "just okay." About equal (maybe) with Rockin' Rogers, but nowhere close to Five Guys, Willamette Burger, or even the Carl's Jr. just up the street. The Fries were really not good - they were barely crisp and flavorless. And strangely, even the ketchup was "off" - it was too sweet or something. Anyway, there are just too many good places to eat to waste time and money on middle-of-the-road food (and all those other places take debit/credit cards). So I reserve the right to take my...
