R/C Plus Hobbies and Race Track — Local services in Salem

I visited their shop for the first time on 07/27/25 around 5pm, near closing. The owner was absolutely amazing to work with, I came in with very little knowledge (outside of Youtube) and explained to him what I was interested in and after about 40 minutes I walked out with a Traxxas Rustler 4x4 ultimate and a TRX4 rock crawler. I had initially told him I wanted an Traxxas XRT ($2000 OTD) and instead of trying to get the big sale, he talked to me about what I actually wanted and I walked out with two cool cars for half the price I intended. It's rare to see a small shop not try to get the biggest sale they can and I appreciate that. They had all the Lipo batteries I could want in stock and great quality chargers so I was able to get everything at one time. The prices were competitive to everything I saw online and it's always better to support your local shop. I went back in to ask a few questions after I unboxed it as this was my first high quality RC car and once again they helped answer everything and relieved my concerns. I am new to this hobby and do not know a whole lot about the cars and replacement parts. I rely on their knowledge and experience to point me in the right direction. I have been to this store several times and have been happy with the service until today. I told Erik the sales person (That was the name on the receipt) what car I had and was looking for a LiPo battery. Erik Told me I needed a different battery. Went with Eriks recommendation. The car ran for a few seconds then shut off. I tried resetting the car to communicate with the new battery (thanks to you tube 👍) but to no avail. I came back the following day and explained my circumstance and asked if I could return it and pay the difference for the one I needed. The woman that I talked to (very pleasant employee) asked for Erika help and he told me no because I connected the battery to the car (with no way of knowing it was not going to work). I would have been happy if Erik offered me some kind of credit towards the battery that I needed. Instead he told me that there was no way he can help me. I walked away in frustration and he told me to have a nice day....

I wish I could give this place 6 stars, but sadly the limit is 5. I've been coming to RC Plus for well over 10 years, and my father even longer, and we’ve always received amazing service from Erik (the owner) and Willy. Every time I go in, everyone is super friendly and always willing to help. They have no issue with you handling the trucks on display or grabbing parts for you to look at. They carry a wide range of models, from your Little Rock crawlers from Axial all the way up to the XRT from Traxxas, with plenty of options in between.

All the staff is extremely knowledgeable and always ready to assist. I’ve never felt rushed or pressured to make a decision. If you’re looking for a part they don’t carry, they are always willing to try and order it for you or even guide you on where to find it yourself. They also have a great track with a large pit area for working on your models, and if you have any questions, there’s always someone available to help.
