So let me tell you about tonight's trip to Burgerville in Salem, OR on Lancaster.
It was busy. All the spots were full, and the drive through line was starting to wrap around.
This kid comes out with a road guard vest on, and a name tag. (Sorry Boss, didn't catch your name. It was approx 5:40pm, 5/18/2025) He kindly stopped the drive through so cars can get out of parking spots, and new cars can park, then graciously releases the drive through.
Then we walked into the dinning room.
Man, then they had all-hands-on-deck! Someone at every station, starting to hit their stride! Vooom! New fries are out. Vooom! Buns on the counter! Sauce! Lettuce! Paddy! Wrap that $h!^ and let's go! (Any sketchy parts are my ad-libs)
We order, and had to wait a few for a table. I'll be honest, as customers go and new ones enter, someone should be out to bus tables. But we talking less than a handful of crumbs, and water marks from cold drinks. Not bad, definitely better than the non-locally headquartered chains. Those places, woof! (I'm looking at you, @wendies in Salem OR, 97301)
We snagged a table, had a pretty short wait, compared to the registers.
Shortly after we sat down, a lady more... seasoned than I, sits at a table near us. Her hearing is worse than mine, and after hearing my wife respond that our daughter is drinking a strawberry shake, I realized that the lady had asked a question about my daughter's drink. (Bare with me, that'll be relevant in a second)
We get our food, all is well. The other lady's food comes out. She asks the employee, Lilliana? (I think that was it... Short hair, small stature, maybe brown hair?) Lilliana is asked about missing fries. It appears that the customer thought she ordered a burger and fries, but it wasn't all reflected on the receipt. The miscommunication probably happened because of the noise inside, and it was probably an honest mistake at the counter.
Now get this, Lilliana looks at the register, looks back at the customer. Customer asks if she has to get in the long line again to order fries? Lilliana says no, she's going to make it right.
Lilliana walks in the kitchen, waits for fresh fries, and brings out hot fresh fries. Customer asks if there are salt packets, Lilliana quickly grabs them, and makes sure the customer has what she needs.
Good $#!^, Lilliana! (Again, that's me talking) Thank you for going above, in my eyes! And thank you for just making a "command decision" and doing what you felt was right. You are awesome! (hopefully I got the right name and everything)
This is why I've always liked Burgerville! The food is good to, especially Tillamook Cheese and Oregon Strawberries! (Effe California berries! They're trash! Hood Strawberries FTMFW!!!) AND the customer service! I appreciate you all!
I'm also going to file this interaction with Burgerville corporate. Thank you for coming back...
Read moreWe went to the Salem Burgerville the first time, right after they opened, and while it was lackluster at best, I was hoping it was because they were still getting their legs. We've gone twice since, and it doesn't seem to be improving. Every time we've gone at least one item was incorrect or forgotten completely. This last time, I ordered a specific way as to save money. 2 meals with upgraded drinks to shakes, and an additional 5 packs of original cheeseburgers. The cashier misunderstood the order, even after I repeated it 3 times, and completely rearranged it (after already getting it right the first time), changing the meals to individual items and costing me an extra $5+. I decided it wasn't worth the argument. After that I was shorted 3 burgers in the order. I fortunately noticed while still in the area, so I turned around and went in. Stood at the counter while they made the additional 3 burgers. In the meantime a worker brought out the original 3 I ordered, and said something about them to another worker, who proceeded to throw them away while acknowledging that I had come back to get them and they were being remade. It was just weird and wasteful. All the while the rest of the food I ordered was getting cold and the shakes were melting in the car. They've changed the buns on the original cheeseburgers too, the ratio is now way too much dry bun to meat and they charge a fortune for them. The last two times I've gone, I was picking up food for the rest of my family. I've officially given up on the outrageous prices for below average food, so I get it for everyone else and just eat something at home. At this point I don't know that anyone else is in a hurry to go back to the Salem location either. Only thing I can always give Burgerville credit for is that they have very yummy, albeit very expensive,...
Read moreFinally went to try the new Burgerville in Salem, Oregon. There was quite a wait, but we hung in there. when we finally ordered...Holy sticker shock! For the price I was expecting everything to be absolutely delicious. When we finally got to the window to get our food, I looked in the bag and it appeared that we received a small fry. I told the guy I'm sorry we ordered a large fry, he said oh you ordered a large fry? I said yes and handed the bag back to him, he looked in the bag and he said that is a large fry. we only ordered 1 fry to share. Merp... it was maybe the size of a McDonald's medium fry. I ordered cheese for my chicken sandwich, and they happily charged me, but they forgot to put it on. If you pay $40 for fast food, it should be on point. And this place charges for everything. When he handed us our drinks he even asked.. do you need a straw? I was a little afraid he was going to ask for more money. Luckily they threw those in, however if you go be sure to ask for napkins because those are apparently an option they don't include. We didn't get any. I was less than impressed by my chicken sandwich, it barely had any mayo on it, and of course no cheese. My boyfriend's bacon cheeseburger was good, but it also lacked sauce. The strawberry milkshake was delicious! That's the one thing Burgerville does not let you down on. Their milkshakes are delish, however the price is a lot. Personally, I will never return to Burgerville for a meal, but.. maybe as a special treat... if I'm in the neighborhood...I might stop in for a spendy shake. Burgerville just doesn't compare to my local favorite, Nancy Jo's. Nancy Jo's is affordable, knows what a large fry is, and she lets you have all the sauce you want and doesn't...
