Chinn's Restaurant — Restaurant in Salem

Chinns has been in the same spot for a long time but it seems it has changed hands several times over the years. I am not stating facts on that, only my opinion. The food many years ago was great. Then, it seemed the quality was going down hill fast and finally I stopped eating there about 5 years ago. Recently a friend had stopped by Chinns and offered me a sampling. I wasn't hoping for much as far as food quality but I was hungry so I accepted and boy was I glad I did! The food is back to original Chinns quality. It was cooked well, what should have been crunchy was ect.. the flavor was great. I only had a few dishes but they were tasty and satisfying. Not the overly salted, overcooked, stale dishes that finally made me stop going there. This food tasted fresh, bright and flavorsome. Chinese (American Style)always has a bit of heaviness to it from the cooking methods and sauces. This didnt disappoint in that aspic either but I think it is what we expect from the dishes we order in this cuisine. Chinn’s Restaurant is a hidden gem!

We recently found this place and have been back several times since. I’ve never had a bad meal here. The food is always fresh, and as a picky eater, I really appreciate that they let you customize your order.

Portions are huge, so you definitely get your money’s worth. We’ve tried a variety of menu items, and everything has been delicious. My personal favorites are the egg foo young (a full meal on its own!) and the noodles I have chicken and add broccoli—flavorful and perfectly cooked.

They also offer takeout and delivery, which makes it super convenient when we’re craving something good at home.

If you’re looking for great food, big servings, and fresh ingredients, Chinn’s won’t disappoint!...

Ordered out for lunch. Lots of food, friendly staff!

Unfortunately there's a reason the prices are so great... The food was not good. I'm the kind of person who usually eats all of my lunch. Today I kept the chicken and got rid of the rest.

The Lo Mein was salty, the egg roll should have been called a burrito (btw the special dipping sauce is watered down ketchup). Then there was a dish I had never had before. A gravy covered egg dish... I ate half to be fair but again, super salty and unpleasant.

The two decent 3.5/5 items were fried rice and sweet and sour chicken.

My wife had the beef and vegetable and said she would say at best 2/5 stars.
