Creekside Dining — Restaurant in Salem

Their food is always FRESH & healthy, yet sinfully delicious! $5.00 Omelettes {made to your specs}, AWESOME Burgers, and their cooked vegetables at mealtimes {$1.50} are the best meal value in Salem! On the downside, it's frequently unclear what they are serving & what your choices are if you're unfamiliar with their routine. Thankfully most hospital staff eating there are able to help the uninitiated customers. Finally, you must check out some of the art on their walls. There are several pieces that I would gladly trade all my possessions to obtain {if possible}. I'd just rather stare into those paintings rather than an idiot box or phone! The "Mess" for breakfast- had carrots and raw green peppers- not my favorite- I didn't see any ingredients list. Biscuit was awesome. Eggs and gravy were really good. Cod filets were very greasy - small and expensive. Cod pieces should come with fries- I should not have to pay extra. The worst- the Cole slaw. Brown vegetables- very weak blan dressing- less then a 1/4 cup- closer to 3 tablespoons. Cole slaw was put in the corner of the paper box- wet - touching fish and fries- eew! Service- When I did not get my sandwich out of the vending machine- they very quickly compensated me with the value on the restaurant menu. Staff were courteous professional and helpful. I had just come from visiting my gravely ill sister in the ICU. Needless to say, I was feeling pretty crushed. When I arrived, it was clean, calm and quiet. I didn't have much of an appetite but the meal I ordered was deliscious and freshly cooked while I watched. Most importantly, your staff seemed to know just what I needed and they treated me with professionalism, patience and kindness. I referred my other sister when she arrived from Seattle the next day. She told me later that her experience was much like mine. It just reminds me that it's not always about the 5 star restaurant, it's about the humans that make it run. My sister passed a couple days later but your staff truly brightened my day...at least for a couple hours....
