Been waiting a few weeks to try this place after seeing the photos and reviews here on google. I'm happy to report that it 1 million percent lives up to all of the hype! As I walked in I was welcomed by a warm wave of sweetness and bready fragrance washing over me, which got my salivary glands working overtime. Temptation rose even further as I gazed at the beautiful confections behind the glass to make the difficult choice on which I would be taking with me, and which ones I'd just have to try next time. I wish I had had the budget for a whole dozen to try the ample variety of flavors and pastries offered, but happily settled for the half dozen donuts and a strawberry cream Danish. However, the smaller number of treats, and the slightly higher than average price tag, won't be any issue because these bad boys are MASSIVE and more than make up for the extra pocket change. The lovely young woman who helped me was as sweet as their product, and my luck with lines held as I came in right before the rush began. Be sure to come early, as they do and will sell out, rightfully so. The strawberry Danish was probably the best I've ever had in my life, and I'm someone who doesn't mess around with baked goods. I used to frequent one of Portland's most beloved French bakeries, St.Honore, multiple times per week when I still lived in the Metro area. The Dough Hook blows them out of the water. I could barely get my mouth open wide enough to bite into the crispy, pillowy, buttery, flaky pastry, but delighted to find that once I had, an intensely rich, yet perfectly balanced flavor with just a kiss of sweetness filled my pallette. The filling was fresh, creamy, not overly sweet and silky, made with love and fresh eggs and none of those additives that leave that nasty, filmy mouth feel behind. The strawberries were super fresh and juicy, even after they'd been baked, which belies an attention and dedication to quality of ingredients. This was one of those pastries that has one wishing they could rewind tine to try it again for the first time over and over. The doughnuts are heavenly. They share the subtle sweetness of the danish, which allows the flavors of each to really shine and keeps you going back for more, which is easy given their ginormousness. Perfectly balanced, these round representatives of divinity are totally lacking in any kind of greasiness, nor did they even flirt with dryness. My personal favorite was a tie between the Boston Cream and Creme Brulee, and both are a masterclass in filled confections. The Dough Hook is what a bakery should strive to be, in every way. The pastries are above and beyond, and the vibes are Immaculate. This is my new regular spot for sweet treats, and it should...

Read moreWe were very excited to get donuts from here because we were told how great they are and were sorely disappointed. We had looked at their menu and got excited by the offerings. We got there early to get them fresh but very little on the menu was available and even though we were the only ones there, the lady was impatient with us as we tried to adjust our order. She was almost rude. Weâd met people there but there is no seating so we couldnât enjoy them with our friends. We made sure to order their signature marionberry donuts, apple fritters, hot cocoa donuts (which were just chocolate with sprinkles), Oreo cheesecake, and crĂšme brĂ»lĂ©e. The crĂšme brĂ»lĂ©e was fantastic! The cream was not too sweet, filled the whole donut, and the brĂ»lĂ©e topping was delicious! It made the rest even more disappointing. My mom said that someone should let them know that apple fritters were supposed to have apples in them. The rest of the donuts were ok but tasted more like iced bread. The marionberry icing was good but lacking in flavor. So much so that none of us have bothered eating our second donut. There was also little offered to...
