From the moment you walk into the diner, you are automatically transported to the fifties era. Walking in the diner was like walking into a scene of the show Happy Days or becoming part of a scene in the movie Grease. The atmosphere itself gets 5 stars for keeping up with the theme, especially since all they played was music from the 1950s to the 1960. Our waiter Amanda was a complete ball of joy who treated us with respect and dignity. She came to our table every five minutes to ask us if we needed anything else and attended us exactly the way I waiter should. If you go to the diner, I highly recommend that you ask for Amanda. The floats are superb. I went with my sister and she got the Cherry Coke float and I got the coffee float. The coffee float was so good that I had to ask for another serving. The meatloaf tasted like the way your grandmother would make it from back in the 1960s and every side was made fresh to order, including the french fries, mashed potatoes, vegetables, and especially the baked beans. I had the Jack Daniel's Black Raspberry steak tips breakfast and it was some of the best steak tips I've ever eaten. The portions are big and the prices are small just the way it should be. The only downfall is that the restaurant is only open until 8 p.m. and I wish it could have been a 24-hour diner because I know people would choose it over Denny's and IHOP. The atmosphere was very family-oriented and there is something for everyone in the menu. I especially have to recommend of the bread pudding. Though it's not on the menu, you would have to ask for it. The bread pudding itself had a good amount of chocolate chips baked inside and topped with a vanilla bean sauce that was to die for. I highly recommend this place, especially if you want great food, with great quality and with great prices. Best place that I've been to in a while.

Always Fresh, Cooked Perfectly and Great Service! I have never been even slightly disappointed in any aspect of my experience here. The stainless steel trim on everything is awesome but could use a little polish.. other than that it's one of the consistently clean restaurants I've ever eaten in. The Food, and I've tried things from the different lunch and breakfast menus is consistently cooked exactly as I've ordered it and served quick and hot. I normally would go into more detail about the food but honestly I feel confident that anything you order you will enjoy. The service has always been personable, quick and friendly in my opinion no matter how busy it was. The coffee isn't too bad either and the orange juice was yummy, not that watered down stuff found at some other places. Go early enough and you can walk in like a King or Queen and sit anywhere you want. Go during the busy hours and you'll feel like Oliver as you stand outside sadly staring into the large windows watching others eat for what can seem like days or weeks even... Look at me..I'm still here...jk.. All in all its one of the best diners in the history of earth and you should try it. I ate alone and took a picture of the empty seat across from me so you can see what it's like to be lonely. Enjoy.

Yesterday, for the first time, my sister, niece and I dined at MaryAnn's in Salem, NH. I have PROS and CONS about my dining experiencing. My sister's breakfast of ham and eggs was delicious and my niece's pancakes were a "picture" with strawberries and cream, a large portion and delicious. Both were reasonably priced. Then the disaster CON was my "Fisherman's Platter" for $18.99, which I believe was a "NEW' item. It included clam strips, scallops, shrimp and fish. Being Lent I wanted fish and at $18.99 I knew it would be a smaller portion because fish is expensive. I got about three scallops with no flavor, three shrimp with no tails so I don't even know if they were shrimp but they had a faint shrimp taste. The fish, which was cut up, probably measured three-inches, was dry with very little flavor. The so-called clam strips were pieces of fried fat with no evidence or taste of clam. IT WAS DEFINITELY LOW-QUALITY FROZEN FISH. It was the WORST ''FISHERMAN'S PLATTER" I've ever eaten. But, of course, there were loads of spiced-french fries that were very good. The coleslaw was good too. I told the waitress. who was very nice, that I was disappointed in the meal and she did offer to get me something else, but I was in a hurry and couldn't wait. What surprised me was that the Manager didn't come to the table when I told the waitress I was disappointed. At most restaurants the Manager will show this courtesy. Based on my sister and nieces' meals I will return to MaryAnn's but will definitely not order a "Fisherman's Platter." The staff were welcoming and pleasant, the restaurant had a fun reminiscent atmosphere and there were many meal choices, with large portions that were ...

Nice looking place with a decent vibe. I would have given my food a 3 if my sandwich didn’t have a hair in it. The waitress dropped off ice water and when I reached for my glass she snatched it back explaining that there was something in the ice and that she would get me a fresh glass. I thanked her for her diligence. I ordered pastrami and asked for no cheese. It came with French fries which were those new fangled things that have something on them to make them more crisp. I don’t like those at all, so that dropped the food score to a 4 before I even touched the sandwich. The pastrami sandwich was supposed to be served with a Dijon mustard but the sandwich was dry with no mustard. So I asked the waitress for the mustard. I got French’s yellow mustard. Not quite the same as Dijon. The pastrami was tiny little bits of pastrami, not slices so while eating it the pastrami kept falling out of the sandwich, all over the plate, the table and me. Now, I understand that the pastrami would have probably stayed in the sandwich if I had let it come with the cheese. But, I have never once received a pastrami sandwich that was made up of little tiny bits of pastrami so that wasn’t something I anticipated. I finally got tired of trying to hold it all together and set the last quarter of the sandwich down on my plate and opened it up to show my husband the little tiny bits of pastrami the sandwich was made from and that’s when I saw the hair. My husband had already paid and we were ready to go, so we just left without discussing it. Because of the fries, the poor quality of the sandwich and the other situations I’ve described here I won’t be going back. They need to step up their...
