The food is AWFUL and the staff is WORSE!! Spent the day in Swampscott with my Father. While driving I saw this resturant on the side of the road. I said to my Father, "I would like to go here for Dinner". So at dinnertime, we drove to Pizza World in Salem, MA. Now the name itself is silly. But I didn't let that effect my decision to eat there.
When we arrived at the resturant I grabbed a menu and looked at what they offered. Prices were high. The only interesting and cool thing about this resturant was their coupons. They had 16 permanent coupons that offer great deals.
I ended up ordering #16. Which was 1 large sub, 1 small cheese pizza and a 20oz bottle of soda. I had to wait about 15-20 minuets. Not bad. But what happened during the wait was not professional.
After ordering my Father and I sat down at the table and waited. Around 5 minutes I got asked personal questions about my attire and what I did for work. Small talk or not, it's none of of a strangers buisness. The cashier and cook made a comment about my face mask. Asking me if I was still afraid of COVID-19. I told them I was wearing my face mask to protect not only myself, but others. I was then told by the cashier I would be given a bag of ice and should go to Alaska. Extremely inappropriate and unprofessional.
When the chef was cooking a different order, the customer was asking for specific things things to things to his order. Like not wanting his sub cut in half. The cashier then said to this Indian customer, "my cooks don't like being watched". Disgusting attitude towards a customer. Furthermore, I don't know if the cook was overload or what, but he wrapped my sub with the same paper plate that was used to transport the RAW, UNCOOKED steak to the grill. Unsanitary and disgusting.
Upon receiving our order, my Father and I walked to the car and ate our pizza. I have only one word to describe this pizza. Mediocre. The cheese and crust was basic. But the pizza sauce was saltier than ocean. It tasted like the cook spilt the entire container of salt on our pizza. Would not recommend to any pizza connoisseur. Got home with the sub and to my suprise there was no mayonnaise on my sub when I specifically asked. The steak bomb was dry and mediocre.
This is my experience with this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOrdered food last night Sunday around 8:15 for delivery. We ordered some pasta dinners with extra Garlic Bread because honestly who does not love Garlic Bread with pasta. Once the food came around 9:00 pm we began digging in. When I reach for the Garlic bread I got a musty smell coming from the bread and as soon I took one bite I got an immediate terrible taste in my mouth. I asked my wife to smell it and take a bite of my piece to see if I was crazy. She had to spit the bread out. We got about 4 loafs of Garlic bread all with the same smell and moldy taste. The website stated it closed at 9PM, so my wife said we would call in the morning to discuss the matter with the owner. When we called this morning he said that he would not do anything to help us because we did not call that night to make our complaint. When we told him that stated hours on Google are until 9pm he stated "well we close at 10pm" like we were suppose to just know that they do not have the correct hours listed. Even just the little bite I took made me sick to my stomach. When we called the owner and explained what happened, he immediately call us a liar. Said that no one else complained about the bread that day and we were just wrong to make such a claim. I am now less upset about the bread and more upset with how he spoke to us. The owner was incredibly rude and was not trying to be compassionate. The owner made it out to seem like our experience was impossible to have happened. The tone he took and how dismissive of our comments was completely unnecessary. Honestly keep your bread we will not be coming back to this place ever again. I really hope this comment find its way to the owner and he learns from this experience to just be generally pleasant. We were patrons of your restaurant please treat us with a certain level of human respect. My wife and I are both in the service industry so we understand how the industry works but he was way out of line to just call us liars...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDo not order from Pizza World. I ordered 11 pizzas this morning around 10:30am for my daughter's birthday party. I requested them to be delivered around 1:30pm. I received multiple email and text confirmations about my order and delivery time. 10 minutes after the pizza was scheduled to arrive, I received a text message telling me my order was cancelled. I had to scramble and order 11 pizzas last minute because Pizza World gave me no notice or communication that they couldn't fulfill this order. I called multiple times and no one answered. Is this even a real business? I haven't talked to a person yet so I'm not convinced they actually exist. The only reason we chose Pizza World is that they supposedly have a gluten free option and we had multiple guests with celiacs. I will never make this mistake again. Luckily Mandees (also in Salem) who we normally order from, was able to deliver us 11 pizzas on short notice (within an hour which was impressive!). I will continue to order from Mandees in the future and look for other restaurants with gluten free options. I can't get over how unprofessional Pizza World was. Not even a phone call to let me know they couldn't make the pizzas. The party was well under way and I was only notified via text that I wouldn't get my order. The website says they open at 11 am. I placed my order at 10:30, but wasn't told my order would be cancelled until 10 minutes after it was supposed to arrive. I strongly urge anyone looking to order pizza to avoid Pizza World...
