My family & I tried to stay here July 29-30, 2025. When we arrived at 3pm, we were informed that we are on the 4th floor with 2 dogs & no elevator. After hiking up 4 flights of stairs, we were greeted by a room that was 77 degrees. I called the front desk and asked for fans only to receive condescending response “did you turn it to cool?” Of course I did. The fans arrived and we positioned them in front of both AC systems in attempt to get the room to cool off. We decided to go for a walk and when we returned, the temperature had risen! Another call to the front desk with the same condescending response asking if we set it to cool. This is now 3 hours into our stay. Not only are we sweating and disgusting, especially after hiking up 4 flights of stairs each and every time one of the dogs needed to be taken out, the dogs have been heavily panting since 3pm when we arrived. The woman at the front desk came up and verified we had in fact been trying to run them on cool (set to 61 degrees in fact for the past 3 hours) and their own clock showed the room temperature was currently 79 degrees. The room was hot, smelled like wet dog and mold and the manager informed her front desk that we are not going to be able to switch rooms due to the 2 dogs. The front desk was instructed to call a HVAC person, with no estimated time of arrival and no idea if the AC would be repaired that evening or not. Instead of waiting for who knows how long, we called another hotel who was able to accommodate us that evening. We left, our plans completely disrupted and wasted hours when we only had one day to visit Salem. The next morning (7/30/25) the manager sent us text messages, which I feel is highly unprofessional, but in the end I’m thankful because she stated she would issue a refund that day. As the hours went by, her messages then changed tone and asked if we would be returning to the area. I knew in that moment that she would not be issuing a refund. Today is 8/20, nearly a month later and this manager is FIGHTING our bank! She is disputing us stating we were in the room for 4 hours (it was 3). Please beware! HORRIBLE customer service and a complete waste of our...

Staff was great, perfect location walked to everything!! One thing I am truly grateful for being out of state living in Michigan is the roads. A lot of the roads are winding and something I’m not used too at all. I know I made a lot of people mad. Anyways staff was very accommodating answered everything in a timely fashion. One thing I will say about it is when we weren’t in the room someone had to come in and do some maintenance work. That I was nervous about because (not at the Salem inn OTHER PLACES I’ve stayed I had hotel staff would come in and take stuff. Luckily I had my laptop on and they were caught.) I would stay as far as the rooms go it was nice to be settled in an 1800 style setting. Old furniture Victorian woodworkings are beautiful. The only thing missing room our room was a microwave. I always bring popcorn but had no way of popping it. It’s a guilty pleasure of mine. Breakfast was great I never had an issue. Service was great the history given to me by the staff in the dining room was amazing. What the room was and they still have the old stove and oven. Very cool to see. The front desk also those two wonderful ladies were so great to talk too. Prior to this trip I gave my deposit on one card. Then someone stole my numbers I had to get a whole new card. Completely forgot! The night we got there and settled in I got a call saying my card wasn’t going through. Freaking out I realized I got a new card, they reassured me with “no worries come in the morning we will straighten everything out” and told me to relax and get some rest. Thank you for everything. We will be back! More likely in season due to some stuff not being open, we had an...

A recent stay at Salem inn left me wishing I could visit again! As an out of country visitor I do a lot of research on where the best place to stay is while visiting an area and Salem Inn really is the best place for Salem. Not only is it very affordable but it has such a historic vibe to it that makes you really feel welcome! I stayed in the West House and had a room with a fireplace (which was really useful as I visited in February and it was still very cold) the room also had a mini fridge, huge cupboard and lovely en-suite bathroom. There is nothing better than coming back to the hotel after a day of exploring and lighting the fire, showering and climbing into bed to watch a movie! The West House staff are so nice and it is conveniently situated in the middle of everything you’ll want to see while in Salem (seriously! I could see the witch house from my bedroom!) EVERYTHING is in walking distance- this obviously depends on one’s ability, as a young female I felt very safe walking around (at night included) as well as in the hotel itself! Breakfast is included and it is a great start to fuel you up for your adventures. All hotels are going green (which is very admirable) so you’ll see this in the small details around your room, it will not affect your hot water though so rest assured your hot showers will still be amazing make sure to use the nice smelling shower soap! The rooms get serviced daily, there is parking allocated on the street or reserved parking for guests depending on which house you’re in. As a traveler I highly recommend staying here !! It is a quick walk to the...

I stayed in the Curwen House for several nights during my recent birthday trip in Salem. Pretty much everything about my stay was conveniently done via text messages, which start at 11:30 am the day you are set to arrive. When checking in, you are not provided keys, just codes to enter the building and the room. If you drive in like I did, please provide your license plate number so you won't be towed as they have parking in the back of this location. Even though this is a bed and breakfast, you still need to make a reservation through Open Table, and then you need to provide what you would like from the menu options given via text before 9:pm. The free breakfast is pretty decent where you don't have to go out to a local place and spend $20 or more per person and the friendly staff is fast with the orders. Also, if you are not staying in the main house, then you need to walk over and enter through the basement to get breakfast. The room I selected on the 2nd floor was great. The room was clean, the bed was big and comfortable, and my bathtub was also a jacuzzi with plenty of hot water. They also provide a cute little refrigerator and k-cup coffee maker as well. There was a slight hiccup with housekeeping my first day, but that little misstep didn't take away from me enjoying my stay overall. A huge plus is that this Inn is conveniently located near all major points of interest and restaurants within walking distance. I plan on coming back to Salem in the near future, and I will definitely stay here again the next time I do so.
