I stopped in to try Marlow's for the first time. I walked in the door to a dark and gloomy atmosphere. The windows are heavily tinted and the blinds are pulled giving the dining room an odd, dingy glow.
The staff seemed friendly and attentive. The menu is like most all BBQ places--barbecue in every form and a handful of entrees for plate lunches. Prices are fair. They have a small ribeye plate so I tried it. The steak was very flavorful. The vegetables were very good.
This is not a place where they pay attention to detail. The chairs make an awful racket on the floor when you have to slide them in and out. The condiment containers appear that they never get washed. They look sticky and dirty. The barbecue sauce containers have a flip-up spout designed so that the only way you can flip up the spout is to put your finger right over where the sauce comes out. It's really gross to think about how many nasty fingers have touched the tip of the dispensers. It's one of those situations where you can't help but ask, "What was the manufacturer thinking when they designed this sauce dispenser?" The menus are dirty from people's dirty hands being on them. When I was asking the waitress about some plates, she opened up a menu and she actually marked some of the food choices with a permanent ink pen. This sloppiness and poor work ethic would explain the overall dirty appearance of the...
Read moreI frequent this establishment several times per month and I have never had a bad experience in the past. The food is excellent, drive through staff are beyond friendly & accommodating not to mention the affordable prices . With that being said I recently had my first experience dining in and everything was clean & orderly, food was great as usual. A young lady was busing tables and another staff member spoke harshly aloud in front of all the customers berating this young school aged girl and you could tell she was mortified and embarrassed beyond belief. I was shocked at how unprofessional and unnecessary this was. If there was a problem you handle that in the back out of sight of your patrons. Speaking to another staff member in this tone is absolutely unnecessary. This girl was humiliated in front of an entire restaurant. Shame on you for speaking to this child that way. I hope there will be training on how to respect and engage with others no matter their age or inexperience. Marlowe's I love your food and I would hate to stop coming but I was taken aback by this experience and left very disappointed... and even angry for the lack of tact and disrespect that I witnessed. I realize this was 1 staff member and 1 experience compared to many excellent experiences but this was appalling . Please address this so that you don't lose this...
