Thanks to our daughter who told me about Mogan's as a restaurant to go and celebrate our 40th anniversary last night.
I called to check on reservations and the girl was more than polite and helpful. She made a reservation for 6pm and told me they would have a table ready for us.
We arrived about 5 minutes late as our GPS was a block off. When we arrived, I apologized, but she was great and said our table was ready.
It was a chilly night, but the restaurant was warm and inviting. We had a great table, near a beautiful bar, and a view of the chef.
After being seated, nearly immediately, our server welcomed us and congratulated us on our anniversary. We offered to make recommendations or answer any questions.
Then, who I believe an owner came and wished us a happy anniversary, and gave us glasses of champagne. We had a brief but nice conversation.
The restaurant is quiet and very classy. I had asked about about a dress code, because my wife and I had novelty shirts we wanted to wear. They told us casual attire is fine.
We tried to order a lot of different items to sample as much as we could. I ordered a few local raw oysters, and we got the appetizer of grilled parmesan cheese crusted oysters. Both we fantastic. The raw shuckers were expertly shelled and very cold. The grilled oysters were to die for. My wife and I very fighting for the last one.
My wife went for the crabcake, which was cooked to perfection. I chose the Newburgh Mac 'n Cheese. Now, don't write this off as your regular macaroni. This dish was just awesome! The pasta was cooked exactly the way I like, and a very creamy cheese sauce, but what sets this off to be so great were shrimp and large chunks of lobster. OMG, each bite was better than the last.
Both our dishes came with a crispy broccoli. I wish I could describe the flavor, but it is impossible to type the flavor. It's like the steamed the broccoli, but then tossed it in a high heat pan with some type of caramelized flavoring that was a little satisfying like a light bacon and sweet taste. No one wanted to give away the secret, even after asking 3 people. I don't blame them.
Before we even finished dining, my wife thanked me 3 times for taking her there. Normally if you want a nice meal, with great service, yet not need to wear a suit, we have to drive to the beach. This is a gem right in Salisbury.
Great meal, courteous and expert service, perfect portions, comfortable surroundings; perfect evening to privately celebrate thus milestone.
Just as we finished, an old friend came over and talked. He lives quite aways from there, and said he and his wife drive over often as the love eating there. He bought us a wine for our anniversary which was better than dessert.
People dining there were all polite and the decor is like you're dining at home. It's not cramped but you still feel like it's a private meal.
We will...

Hello to all who read my name is Jason Nester. I'm a trained chef who started working my first job at fifteen washing dishes at Waterman's Cove. The cove, as we called it, was a popular, locally owned, seafood house. I quickly worked through every position in a handful of local restaurants, opening two from just the shell of a building to fully operational in my 30 years in hospitality. The only position that I haven't held is that of ownership. I'm rarely 100% satisfied when dining out. It's hard to set aside what I see that doesn't meet my standards and industry standards. My expectations are extremely high.
Dining at Mogan's this past friday night on 9/13. Mind you, this was the first time dining there. My expectations of perfection were not only accomplished, they were blown off the charts. The whole experience, from the atmosphere, the most comfortable table booths I have ever sat in with pillows and all. Luke, our waiter, went above and beyond. It seemed so natural that it's like it was his restaurant, and his sole responsibility was our happiness and nothing else. I could go way deeper! Luke, excellent work. Thank you again!
We tried seven different courses. The simplest way is that I couldn't have done any better myself. Thanks again to all the kitchen staff! Top notch execution of all dishes! Flavor, plate presentation, timing, and temperature were extremely well done. I know they used the best ingredients, including passion and love, and without those two key elements, you won't get this level of food.
A special thanks to the owner, Brad. Raw talent for sure, accompanied with dedication, drive, motivation, love for others, and the absolute best personality needed to keep operations flowing perfectly. Like Poseidon and his trident rule the flow of the sea, he holds the fork! Keeping one's dreams alive, accompanied by his passion and love, is worth more than words can explain! I thank you all for the wonderful dining experiences. I know that I will be back very soon. I encourage everyone to support Mogan's Oyster house. Locally owned and operated at its...
Read moreWalking into Mogans you're greeted with smiling faces and the place oozes with romantic high quality energy. Our waiter matched the expectations with the perfect level of friendliness, compliments, and professionalism.
The menu is robust and ranges from burgers to oysters and many things in between.
The drink menu is great and they definitely have some cocktails that you will want to come here to try.
The burger of the day for me had extremely high quality beef that you can taste. Topped with smoked pork and pineapple chunks with pickled onions. There was some kind of sauce that really brought all of these flavors into a bold experience. It was hands down the best burger I have had in Salisbury.
On the side was potatoes that were sliced and cooked into a crisp deliciousness. Topped with a pork jam and pickled onions. The jam was sweet but subtle thanks to the bacon. It's a must try.
The fish tacos change based on the fish they have in stock. Today it was mahi. You could taste the freshness from the fish but also from the lettuce and corn. It was such a delightful taco and the red peppers gave just the right amount of spice to really give the fresh flavors the kick they needed to really pop.
The little biscuits were similar to red lobster cheese biscuits except they were unique with a special blend of seasoning paired with this sweet cinnamon butter. It was a very unique combination of flavors.
For dessert I tried the passion fruit tart. It's a nice size serving and again you can taste the quality in the first bite. It's topped with floral and these dehydrated fruit stars. The toppings gave a wonderful expansion to the already surprisingly wonderous tart.
I would highly recommend Mogans, and if you're on a budget they have meals ranging from 12 dollars and up. I can only imagine what every dish here tastes like as you can taste the passion in everything I...
