The gyros plate was excellent. They served it with a dill sauce that was a little thinner than the typical Greek Tzatziki sauce, it still paired very well.
They also have a Turkish Cheese Stick appetizer, which seems to use the same type of phyllo dough used in Spanakopita, and they roll up Feta cheese in it, creating a stick that is about five inches long and the diameter of a magic marker. They are delicious!
Turkish coffee was excellent, I didn't see it on their menu, and when I asked the very kind young lady taking my order, she smiled happily when she confirmed they did.
The hummus was very good, and their salad bar, which is included with some of the plates, was quite good. It's not very extensive, though it doesn't need to be. It covers all of the basics and allows for a great accompanying dish to go with your main course. The salad bar also had these small hot peppers that were very similar to the "Sport Pepper" that Vienna sells (a staple in Chicago, commonly found on "Chicago Style Hot Dogs"). I can usually only find them in specialty stores, so it was neat to find them. If you like spicy little peppers (a little hotter than the typical Jalapeno), they...
Read moreThis place isn't a hidden secret, it's a hidden Diamond in Salisbury. Why isn't this place the talk of the town?
This was amazing and I'm so glad to have found this place. I saw it on DoorDash and decided to give it a try, as I'm very burnt out on every place in town. I was a little concerned about trying new foods, but to my surprise this food walks the perfect line of almost being southern. If you love southern food then you will love this place. The spices are done just right, the meats are tender and juicy (first time I've ever had super tender and juicy lamb at a restaurant in my 41 years of existence). The rice is similar in flavor to a rice pilaf, the salad had a few char-grilled veggies on it and the sauces taste homemade, in a good way. I even tasted a hint of spearmint in one of them. We also had the Turkish cheese sticks and they were amazing. The baklava was made with pistachios instead of the Greek version, plus it was fresh, and savory. I'm a huge fan of this place. Thank you to whomever made our food. Many...
Read moreOn my way to Charlotte, I stopped by Mustafa’s Place in Salisbury for a quick lunch. The place looked nice and clean, and there was plenty of street parking available, which was convenient.
I ordered a chicken shawarma with fries as takeaway. The restaurant was empty at the time, so I expected a quick turnaround. It ended up taking about 10–15 minutes… not too bad, especially since I wasn’t in a rush.
Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to expectations. The shawarma was disappointing. Instead of traditional shawarma bread, they used a tortilla wrap, which was cold. It was mostly filled with lettuce and onions, with very little chicken and the chicken itself had an odd taste. The fries were okay, but could’ve been better with a bit more crispiness.
Overall, Mustafa’s Place strikes me as an average halal spot. Clean environment and decent service, but the food… at least what I had, needs...
