Save your money & go elsewhere- that’s the abbreviated review for Apollo Burger.
The food is generally pretty good and wait times are longer than your average drive-thru...they’re oddly quick if you’re dining in though. Went through the drive thru on a Saturday night, in total waited 20 minutes from ordering to getting food. This is a longer than usual wait. Then when we arrived at home, we noticed there was some sort of liquid pooling at the bottom of the bag. It was far more than just the usual condensation from hot food and a plastic bag. When we opened the bag, the greek salad container had a substantial (1/2 inch) of water in it. It looked like the salad was washed in the same container as it’s served, but not drained. The water also happened to soak the bag with a gyro in it, and the gyro.
To add insult to injury, we then noticed some (smaller) things were missing from the order. Some of these items were extra charges...missing feta on a side salad, missing a greek dressing for one of the salads, and missing ranch dressing.
I’d venture to say that about half of the time we go there, our order is incorrect in the drive thru. Something is missing, added when we didn’t order, or is made incorrectly. It doesn’t help that most of the staff are rude when you point these things out or even call to let them know. I’m beginning to wonder if this is a systemic issue with Apollo burger’s because I’ve had similar experiences at other locations, namely the one on 1700 S near 900 W.
If you’re craving pastrami burgers or Greek fast food, hit up Crown Burger or Greek Soulvaki instead. There’s tons of other local small businesses that’ll be happy to accept your money and will offer a significantly better...
Read moreI am a huge fan of Apollo Burger, absolutely love this place. Usually will get the Athenian or Apollo combo large which in my opinion is well worth the $11 price. Only complaints I have about this place are that my order has been wrong maybe twice before. One of the times was actually just last week and I had ordered the usual Apollo combo and was given a large drink, however I never ended up checking the fries which was a mistake. I got back to work and ready to enjoy my meal when I realized they had given me small fries on a large combo. I know they are probably not the healthiest, but they are really good and I am disappointed that I was only given a small when I had paid full price.
We are only given 30 min lunches where I work and unfortunately, including the wait through drive thru it doesn't give me a lot of leeway in order to come back and get my order corrected. Had to just deal with it as a loss. Will be a lot more mindful of my order in the future to ensure that I am being given everything correctly. Also, not sure what Apollo did with the BBQ flavoring in their fry sauce, but wish they would take it out. It doesn't taste good. I usually ask for ranch dressing to go with the fries, but they still stick the Apollo sauce in there.
In any case, would still recommend this place for...
Read morebit into a piece of metal in my Utah burger, still have it in a Ziploc bag I emailed the corporate location and talk to the manager at the store with no contact back. No thank you.
Edit: I failed to mention that the manager at the time called me back and was mostly silent during the call. All he said was "ok, so what do you want to do about this?" To which I replied "I don't want free food or anything from you I'm just letting you know before I call the health department to let them know you have bits of metal in your meat" I remember it clear as day even though that it was 5 years ago. The tone in his voice was annoyed that I was even talking to him in the first place about the situation. I'm not sure if anyone else has had a similar experience between then and now, but hopefully the person I spoke to on the phone doesn't work there anymore. I've since been back to the restaurant to grab things here and there, but I won't order the same thing again. I believe I've eaten there once in the past year. I go to the one...
