From the moment we walked in, Early Owl impressed. We were seated right away, and the space felt calm, clean, and intentionally designed. It’s the kind of atmosphere that invites you to slow down. Natural light pours in, the interior has a warm, modern minimalism, and the background music adds to the relaxed pace without distraction. It’s effortlessly peaceful.
The menu is one of the most visually appealing I’ve seen in years—beautifully printed and curated with an eye for aesthetics. That might sound small, but it reflects the level of care the team puts into the entire experience. It immediately brought me back to cafes I’ve visited in Bali: fresh, bright, and globally inspired with a clear Southeast Asian flair.
We ordered the shakshouka and the avocado toast. The shakshouka was savory, rich, and deeply comforting, served in a cast-iron skillet with crisped bread on the side. It had depth and warmth that made it one of the more memorable versions of this dish I’ve had. The avocado toast was fresh and clean, with my wife opting for mushrooms in place of some of the standard toppings—and they were beautifully integrated into the dish. Her plate included a light roasted squash soup and fresh tomato salsa, each complementing the toast perfectly.
We also tried two smoothies: one berry-based and one avocado-based. Both were huge—generously portioned, thick, creamy, and topped with fresh fruit and mint. The staff, without being asked, brought us to-go cups for our smoothies near the end of the meal, anticipating our needs without a word. That kind of attentiveness is rare.
The fruit plate that followed was no afterthought—it was an experience of its own. Star-cut grapes, slices of kiwi, banana, apple, strawberries, blackberries, and raspberries all artfully arranged and topped with mint. As beautiful as it was fresh.
One of the highlights was speaking with the staff, who shared that they’re originally from Thailand and are bringing their passion for culinary excellence to Salt Lake. It shows. From the flavors to the service to the presentation, you can feel their love for what they’re building here.
Early Owl is thoughtful, elevated, globally influenced, and grounded in genuine hospitality. A true gem.
Five stars. We’ll...
Read moreWife treated our daughter (toddler) and me to this spot early Sunday afternoon. There was no line or customers in the lobby which now I find crazy!!! We're sat at cleans tables with well designed menues and ice water, and proper silver ware with cloth napkins. Reviewing the menus was easy, they had very detailed and accurate pictures for nearly all dishes, and they were assembled with more care than your regular, like:name: picture: description. My wife ordered the potato hash with a fresh orange juice. I ordered the salmon bagel with the passion fruit refresher. She enjoyed the sesame based sauce that complimented both the the vegetables and roasted potatoes, and she found the orange juice to be some of the best she has had. Iam fully satisfied with my choice with the bagel, the proper amount of cream cheese with quality smoked salmon, sliced radish, Cornish pickle (cleaver way to introduce dill), poached egg antop of a half pan toasted asiago bagel, the passion fruit refresher was more than what I had anticipated since I was never really a fan of the flavor of passion fruit. This surprised me and got me over to the other side! It managed to be sweet but not overly so, was carbonated correctly, and tart but no to tart. Service was awesome they welcomed our daughter and provided a clean high chair! I wish we had gotten the name of our server but they were awesome. Do yourself the favor...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Early Owl, a charming and friendly little restaurant. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted and seated by a lovely young lady, which set a positive tone for our visit.
The menu offered a wide variety of choices, which was exciting. However, our experience was somewhat hindered by a language barrier with our waiter, who struggled to communicate in English. This made it difficult for us to ask for recommendations, as we couldn't fully understand his responses.
Despite this, we decided to order the French toast, which turned out to be quite good. We also tried the chicken salad, and it was surprisingly generous in portion—definitely shareable for two or more people.
The restaurant was clean and well-maintained, which added to the overall pleasant atmosphere. Although the food took a bit longer to arrive than expected, it was ultimately worth the wait.
Overall, Early Owl offers a cozy dining experience with tasty food. Just be prepared for potential...
