So I'm really sad to leave this review, just want to start with that. I mean it's really good 90% of there clientele are college kids asking for Macha, because all there coffee is extremely weak. And a large coffee having the same amount of expresso as a small? Where does that make sense? They used to be a phenomenal little coffee shop that was almost hidden in plain site, you'd stroll by and just think some people were hanging out on a patio, now the bathrooms closed for one reason or another, I have yet to receive a decent cup of coffee or latte, and yeah I look pretty bummy due to some pretty fresh personal reasons I'm trying to work through, but I always make sure I can pay and leave a tip, and the staffs friendly, but indifferent.
Idk, I'm just sad because I used to absolutely love coming here, now it's like well it's open until 1 AM and eventhough I can't use the wifi which is always down or just too poor of a connection to run almost any app on my phone, they at least have weak coffee that not only costs more than starbucks but also doesn't come with any refills like they do there.
As much as it breaks my heart guys, coffee breaks kinda became a trash coffee spot 100% not worth it. Hidden gem to lump of coal. Sad day. Hope it all works out for you guys still, I don't know if I'll be returning after this though.
I'm kinda over it, so hey at least you won't have to deal with me anymore, oh and for real most of there staff is awesome and very friendly but some make you feel like nothing more than a bother to there screen time. After coming here on and off for about 13-14 years on and off I'll be sad to see you go. I'm just gonna go to my other local spot, also not as cheap as starbucks lol but coffee s great and so are all the people. Definitely feel welcome there no matter what. And it's less out of the way than here for me.
Okay guys sorry for rambling. Hope this helped sorry for laying g it all out there. Have a good one guys, let's go see if the bathroom that was going to be fixed an hour ago mad...
Read moreI wanted to really like this place and have been multiple times to give it many many chances. It is definitely the most convenient coffee shop for a college student. It is only about 5 minutes away from the University of Utah. It is open late and there is accessible parking in the back. The coffee shop has a very "local" feel to it. There are a decent amount of wall plugs and many usual drink options.
Overall, it sounds like the perfect place, however, I have run into more problems coming here than benefits. For instance, most times that I come into the coffee shop, I come in to use their wifi. I focus better outside of my house and around others who are also busy studying. I buy my $6-$7 drink expecting to be able to use their wifi and services, but THEIR WIFI NEVER WORKS because there's always too many people on it. I have asked them if there is any way to get it to work and their solution is to just wait for it or "it is just like this when too many people come in". I would think the shop would buy another wifi router after multiple people are not able to connect to the wifi on multiple occasions. If they are able to serve that many people, their services should work as well for their customers. Another complaint is that their bathroom is normally dirty. I understand why it can be locked and a key has to be given to the patron, but at least keep it somewhat okay. I have also heard about political views from the staff that do not seem acceptable, but that is not the focus of the review.
I believe if a customer comes in to use an establishment's services, they should at least work most of the time. It is disappointing to continue to spend money at their place and just sit there for an hour waiting for the wifi to work, eventually just leaving because it just never...
Read moreThe atmosphere here is nice, although the building is a bit rundown. The bathrooms are a little sketchy (when they're open - they haven't been for quite some time) but I'm not sure there's much for that considering the location, unless the owner wanted to put in many hours on a daily basis.
The art is nice and there is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. They have many outlets which makes it a great place to work from.
There are a few other coffee shops in the area, but it seems like many are filled with upper class hipster types, whereas this place has always had a more diverse crowd. You get the college students, but you also get groups of middle eastern men playing cards at a table. There are plenty of customers and the place stays pretty busy.
The drinks are ok. The baristas have to be instructed to remake drinks for me from time to time, which is not a problem at any other coffee shop I go to. They're always happy to do it though, so it's just a small inconvenience if anything.
They serve food (mostly sandwiches), snacks, and some desserts that I can't get at other coffee shops (like Baklava).
I worked here close to ten years ago, and it's where I met my husband. This place will always hold a special place in my heart. The owner has never changed - he's a semi gruff middle eastern man, but he has a good heart and is someone I look forward to seeing when I go.
Overall, it's probably the best coffee shop for those looking for somewhere with plenty of seating or those working from a computer. It's not my favorite for coffee drinks, but that's personal preference. I would definitely...
