the good food will not make up for the poor service and bad attitude from the workers at Yoko. I will not be back after giving them a second chance. Here is light on my two poor experiences: first - this was about a month ago. Since Yoko does not allow you to call in your order to go, I went to Yoko to order and take my order home. They ended up charging $3.00 more for them to bag up my order. $1.50 per item. I had ordered two ramens. I asked why and they explained that it's because I am taking it to go. Mind you, can order your food to go and eat it in the bar next door and it is still in to go containers yet they do not charge. It didn't make sense to me. $3.00 to put two cartons into one bag. No way. I let that slide and noted that I won't ever take my Yoko order home again. Their food is just so good. This last Saturday, 1/27 - I went in this time to enjoy. Well they were charging more than what their menu specified. I pointed this out to the person that took our order and she immediately threw a sharp attitude at us when we questioned the difference in price on the menu in front of us than what she charged. She even began to rush us after we questioned this. I do not believe the customer is always right but when you advertise a price out right in the open, the business should honor it. I did not give attitude to this person. In fact, I felt out of place and uninvited after I made the point. I hurried, grabbed my food once it was ready and I left. I will not be returning and neither will my friends. I don't feel this will hurt their business at all. Their food is great however that is all they have going for them. Their service is horrible and not customer centric. These two experiences made me feel that they nickel and dime their customers to make more money....
Read moreAbsolutely the worst dining experience I've had in many many years. Came here for my SIL birthday, we had a party of 14. She called ahead and asked about big groups. All they said was we didn't need a reservation.
Came in with our family, didn't sit together and we all paid separately. Not to mention, all our food was brought out at different times so we didn't even all eat at the same time. Also, every single employee we spoke with treated us like a total inconvenience and were all very rude.
Paid our bill and left. Checked my bank account later and was charged several dollars more than what I signed for. I asked my family if they had the same thing happen and apparently while I was in the bathroom the waitress came out and said that there is actually an tip for groups (not mentioned when we called before coming to eat) and that they would all be sure to charge us EVEN AFTER we paid SEPARATELY and had already signed our receipts!!!
This was super sketchy to me but since it was under a certain limit, I couldn't dispute it with my credit card company. When I called YOKO, they pretty much said they didn't care and to deal with it. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE customer service!!! It was their fault for not charging us a group tip to begin with and any reputable company would have taken ownership for THEIR mistake and would haven't charged anything more, especially when you DID NOT PAY AS A GROUP!!!!! Not only that but its shocking a restaurant that makes you ORDER AT A COUNTER who include a group tip anyway. Will absolutely NEVER come back here and DISCOURAGE anyone else who doesn't like being swindled and cheated to avoid this place as well. Much better food around that part of town where you won't...
Read moreWent out for a family night out, because we hadn’t had ramen in a while. I got the pork ramen, and wife got the veg ramen. We also shared a couple of the choice cocktails, and got the gyoza and pickle plate.
Let’s start off with the good. Atmosphere was nice. Very chill laid back vibe. Lighting was dim and add to the venue’s laid back nature
The meh; Service was mid. Cashier was nice and tried to be helpful, but was overwhelmed with customers. The minimal staff didn’t help, and the attitudes didn’t make it better.
The bad: Worst ramen I’ve ever had 100%. Ramen was undercooked and still hard. Broth was cold, unflavored, and lacked the hearty body of standard pork based ramen dishes. Felt more like it was watered down or mixed with chicken broth. Wife’s veggie ramen tasted like nothing. Food was so bad or kid couldn’t even eat it, and he loves ramen. We had to add so much to our dishes to even make it palatable, that we just gave up part way through. Our drinks weren’t any better. The margarita we had tasted like we were drinking complete sweet and sour mix, and nothing else. Sadly my drink was no better.
For somewhere that was recommended as one of the best spots in SLC, it definitely wasn’t worth the money. Could have done better going to JINYA, and they’re as...
