Flour Craft Bakery — Restaurant in San Anselmo

Best gluten free bakery in the Bay Area - beating out SF favorites that are closer to the city. Thus far I have had: Baguette - lots of seeds and grains on top, crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside - stands up to being carried 50 miles in my back pocket! Cinnamon roll - very luxurious with a heavy dose of cinnamon filling and a generous swipe of cream cheese frosting on top. Ask for it warmed up! Vegetarian sandwich - light but also filling. The basil leaves plus thick mozzarella slices and roasted veggies pair well in between the perfectly oily focaccia Cupcake - was good but not my favorite Scones - all of the berry, lemon ones are so good! Not dry and crumbly. Very moist with a great texture Coffee cake - this one does crumble a little so keep it in the bag as you bite. Worth it. Lemon pound cake - very moist and not too rich. Especially loved the top half that is soaked in lemon juice.

An unexpected gem of a place and in one the sweetest little town’s on earth, San Anselmo, California. Service was outstanding and the selection offered unique and varied. I didn’t anticipate that gluten free would be so yummy! I had the orange/chocolate polenta cake. Wow! Was that a satisfying treat! And best of all no digestive issues for me, later on the way back home. Another thing about this bakery on San Anselmo Ave is that it is a place for locals. People as far as Lagunitas, stopped in to get a gluten free favorite. Another patron stopped in and picked up the bakery’s own made granola. I want to go back and have lunch, they have a lunch menu and make savory items. I also want to try there sourdough chocolate chip cookies. Get there early, parking is sparse. I called yesterday for a cake to be made in time for Sunday and no one answered so I left a detailed message and didn’t hear back. Just called back this morning and was told my message was never received and that my cake order could not be prepared in time for Sunday. Since when do answering machines malfunction and lose messages?
