I was driving down the road and there was no way you could miss this brightly lit red and white building. When I saw it was an ice cream stand, I decided to give it a try. I'll start off by saying everything here was excellent, from portions, to service, and variety. This place nearly earned a perfect 10.. I awarded it best custard and waffle cone I've ever had. The menu had quite a few items on it, but I had pretty much decided I wanted to try the vanilla custard and the waffle cone. The seasonal ice cream right now is the blackberry which happened to be with waffle cone and vanilla, so thats what I ordered. Cost The cost difference between the small and the medium was only about $1, so I ordered the medium which was a pretty decent size, but as fast as I told the guy taking my order I wanted the small, and then switched to the medium, the kitchen was already in the process of making it. This place is fast. The medium was about $7. I had my ice cream and was pulling out of the drive thru in a matter of just 2-3 minutes. Flavor The ice cream was called a "jack hammer" which I assume is because of the crushed up waffle cone it was topped with. The blackberries were large clumps, and had a lot of flavor, almost wine like. The vanilla had a very rich, sweet flavor, probably one of the sweetest vanilla custards I've had, this is the only reason I didnt give them a 10/10 for flavor. The waffle cone was amazing. I want to go back to try just a waffle cone with vanilla. While writing this review and getting the address I visited in Austin, I saw that several other locations exist, including one in San Antonio. I will have to return to try some more flavors, as there were many interesting options on the menu. Flavor: 9.8/10 Service: 10/10 Value: 9.5/10 Variety: 10/10 Ambiance: 9.5/10 Join my Facebook Group "The Best Food Anywhere" for more food reviews.

So I had previously left a review of 3 stars due to a very watery “concrete” I had ordered about 3 days ago. I must say how quickly the management was to respond and try to remedy the issue, was wonderful. The GM Bridgette "Bird" Lopez was apologetic and sweet enough to offer me another chance to see how amazing their concretes really are. With that being said, I went ahead and grabbed the same Large concrete that I had previously ordered- with cookie dough, Oreo and pecans. The concrete was most certainly solid now. Yes, they’re NOT blizzards from DQ so they are on the softer and silkier side. But I was actually able to turn it without any liquids pouring out. I thought the entire new experience I had today deserved a new review and not just an edit. The fact I had mentioned I had a bad experience last time the staff seemed so sincerely apologetic although it was absolutely not any of their faults. As I live in the RIM, I most definitely see myself ordering Andy’s more now only because of the fact I was able to see how much they care about their business, reputation and how amazing their staff is. Y’all, the wait in the long lines is worth it- TRY IT! ☺️

Updated Dec 14, 2024: My previous review was too harsh so I revised it. I took my daughters here on a Sunday afternoon after we had lunch at another establishment. The photo is a stock photo since my daughter's ate their custard too quickly! The reason for the 2/5 stars is because the person at the register refused to give us tap water when we asked for water. I spent well over $20 on 3 servings of custard - my daughters were thirsty after consuming the ice cream. The person at the cash register expected me to buy bottled water which was not necessary because tap water would suffice. I know Starbucks will give you free water that's filtered if you ask for it. If you want ice cream and ice cream alone, I recommend Andy's Frozen Custard. If you need to wash it down with some tap water and don't feel like paying for overpriced bottled water, go somewhere else or plan a trip to Starbucks on your way home for some free water! 😂 It's a sad state when someone can't offer a customer free tap water that costs them nothing but a few pennies for a cup.

Very disappointed in customer service!

It was my first time coming in to try the ice cream since I hear good things about it , and asked for a pint of cookie dough through the drive through.

As I am leaving I open the container and I see chocolate ice cream. No problem I know mistakes happen so I go back and tell the lady at register the situation. She comes back with a new pint and asks for the one I have back to “throw away”. Perfect she fixed my problem.

As I am leaving again I open the pint and I see the same chocolate flavor. I go back and the girl that looked like the one in charge with a piercing responds very defensive saying I am in the wrong since there is no pint for cookie dough only the small container can be cookie dough flavor.. and if I wanted a pint they had to mix cookie dough with chocolate and “that it was clearly stated in the board by the drive through”…. I told her that the first time I came back to change it they could’ve explained that to me instead of giving me the exact same flavor.

She repeated again “it was stated in the board” rudely this time…. To make up for it they gave me a small cup of vanilla ice cream with 6 pieces of cookie dough on top….

Not feeling I got the bank for my buck since I paid for the pint, I came back to explain that I felt I payed more for what I got. The lady at the register was being polite but not giving much resolution , and again the manager with a piercing screamed “just grab it, I will make her another” proceeded to rudely make the bigger cup and walk away pissed off… I explained I was just trying to get what I paid for, and that I am not trying to cause problems and I didn’t appreciate her attitude toward me…

The ice cream was good but a bit expensive but fine… and it is true that one bad apple ruins the whole tree.. it gave me such a bad taste for coming back to this location.

The name given to me was “Jo” but the girl at register sounded hesitant to give the name to me or I don’t know if that is even the name of the...

Used to enjoy this place until today, the custards are phenomenal and perfectly curated.

Not family friendly as they let grown men be derogatory toward young women. I understand they can’t control the actions of other people, but the way the situation was handled was very poor on Andy’s part.

I was assaulted in their drive through today (by another customer), and when I told the worker, I was hit with “I’ll tell someone about it” and she went on to the car behind us to take their order (even though the line was long and not moving). How insensitive of her.

When we got to the window we paid for our overpriced custard and sent on our way. No manager, No soy, nothing. the lack of professionalism is astonishing… but what can you expect from a bunch of kids.

I am not looking for a discount or coupon, as I have the means to indulge in treats like this. I am just blown away by the lack of professionalism.

Edit: I called and spoke to a manager named Jennifer and she couldn't even give me her full attention (she was taking orders while I was trying to talk to her on the phone. the man that answered the phone had more manners than she, he should be promoted to manager). Not only did she dismiss what happened, she admitted that she was aware of the situation. She sounded like she could care less and even hung up on me! We weren’t even talking for a full 2 minutes. Andy’s needs to reconsider who they hire & hire managers that don’t let emotion get the best of them.

Word of advice: a little empathy and professionalism...
