I am writing today to document the poor service I received from your establishment at 15802 IH-10 West, San Antonio, Texas 78249 on October 29, 2023. I was in town to visit family and opted to take everyone to dinner. My mother, sister, brother-in-law, nephew and great niece were in attendance. We arrived at the restaurant on 10/29/23 at approximately 5:30pm and were promptly seated. Our waiter Roy G. took our drink orders and alerted us it was his second day on the job. I thought that was a nice gesture to inform us and service from this gentleman was ok. I think he did well considering it was day two and he didn’t have anyone assisting him with our big group. Once we received our meals we noted the 2 sides of broccoli we ordered and received were heavily salted to the point of being non consumable and my sister’s bun for her cheeseburger was badly burnt on both ends. I asked to speak with the manager to inform him of the problem and that’s when things took a very unpleasant turn. The manager on duty, Brian spoke to me in a very condescending tone and proceeded to tell me the buns were not burnt and were charred from the grill. I informed him that I frequent Applebee’s in various locations and have never received a bun hard to the touch with prominent black char on the majority of both buns, nor had I ever received broccoli so salty. He looked at me in a smug manner and said he would take care of it then disappeared. His attitude and demeanor was dismissive and although I felt unheard and disrespected I was ok with paying my bill and leaving. I had already resolved the issue to being nothing more than a bad dining experience. However a bad situation was compounded by the fact that he did not take care of it. My family and I waited an additional 20 minutes while the waiter struggled to correct our bill. After waiting for what felt like forever I asked for the manager again. When Brian arrived I asked why he left a new employee to handle a problem that was clearly beyond his capacity and why he was so dismissive of my concerns. Brian’s demeanor remained unprofessional and dismissive. Brian’s treatment of my family and I were not reflective of a leader, nor was his handling of our experience conducive to the actions of a manager. I am very disappointed in my experience at this...
Read moreEDIT: We've gone here several times since staying at the hotel next door, so I felt the need to update my review. It's generally really bad. Most of the time the food feels like a restaurant that's just given up on life, no matter the several types of dishes we've ordered... Burgers, wings, salads, HORRIBLE ribs.. Don't get me started on the ribs...I don't even know what to say. The buffalo sauce for the wings is a nightmare and the ranch dressing to dip it in is even worse... Take a teaspoon of ranch, add copious amounts of water and regret. Add lots of jokes when you dip your...whatever...in this wet, drippy mixture, so you don't get fully pissed that you have to pay for this. Just order the blue cheese as a dipping sauce so you don't feel completely cheated at the end of your wings meal (unless they dilute that too?). Or just choose any other restaurant in the area so you don't hate your life. I would suggest 54th Street, just up the road. I gave them 4 stars for atmosphere because they have karaoke, which is fun, even if just observing. Ok... On to my takeout experience...
We ordered burgers take out. Initially I tried calling but I was put on hold for so long I just switched and did it online. That went fine. I went to order extra pickles on my burger. $1.50 EXTRA!!!!??? These are pickles, people, not fois gras!! No extra pickles for me. My husband picked them up, no issues. I got the bacon cheeseburger. It was surprisingly small. Had a funny taste, I think from the poor quality American cheese on it, but good otherwise. My husband had the whiskey bbq burger and his was good, bigger and better than mine. Overall, after the $13-$15 price tags (minus those fancy pickles) for a fast food sized burger and the slow service. I'm discovering that chain restaurants are really sticking it to people in this economy. I will try and go to Mom and Pop restaurants any time I can, because they are generally...
Read moreFirst off it's hella cold in here so you might want to bring a jacket just in case. When we came in we were seated immediately and ordered drinks. My tea was warm with a few ice cubes floating on top so I asked for a cup full of ice while our waitress took our food order, but I didn't receive it until the food was brought out. It seems like the restaurant was understaffed because we hardly saw our waitress at all. Even just to get a refill is taking up to 20 minutes or the waitress only comes out when the food is ready. At one point my younger sibling accidentally spilled her drink on half the table and the waitress was wiping down a table near by, looked up at the mess and continued to wipe the table instead of even coming to help us, we had to call out to her very loudly and ask her to bring a towel or something to help clean the mess, but instead she tells the bartender to go bring us a bunch of napkins instead like she wanted us to clean everything or something. After that more family join us for lunch and the mess is still sitting there even as the waitress is going back and forth to bring us what we ordered. By the end when we leave the mess is still there. I had the new bacon ranch crispy chicken burger with pickles and lettuce. The chicken was really juicy but when you take a bite it almost washes the little bit of ranch away so you're left with a pull of watery ranch sauce on your plate. Combined with the lettuce and pickles the whole thing is just hard to eat. Also the fries are hella salty. The riblets taste like dry beef mixed with some BBQ sauce. I wasn't too impressed with the...
