This was our last night in Texas (on a 2 week road trip from WA), and my husband hadn’t had a chance to get steak yet. The best-rated steakhouses in San Antonio (away from the Riverwalk area) were Texas Roadhouse and Longhorn Steakhouse (both owned by the same parent company). We try to pick non-chain restaurants when we travel, but we hadn’t ever been to a Longhorn Steakhouse and it got good ratings, so we decided to give it a try (we loved the Texas Roadhouse in Fargo, ND). Unfortunately, it was a bit disappointing. No fun décor. Just normal restaurant vibes. Our waitress, Savannah, was obviously new, as she had to look up the answers to our questions about the various steaks. No problem there, though, as she was friendly and did a great job. I ordered the 12 oz Ribeye, cooked medium-rare with a Caesar salad and mac. My husband ordered the 20 oz Outlaw Ribeye, also medium-rare, with a house salad and the corn on the cob. My steak was half the thickness of my husbands, which I understand is harder to cook, but came back well done; no pink at all and it wasn’t very tender. The flavor was good, though, so I just accepted it, rather than ask for a new one. My husband’s steak was cooked properly, juicy, and had a decent flavor. Unfortunately, it wasn’t as good as the steak we had at the Texas Roadhouse in Fargo, nor the steak I had in Fort Worth a few days ago, so we were both a bit disappointed. I loved my mac n cheese and really liked the bite of my husband's corn. The free bread was basic wheat bread, but the butter was fantastic. Overall, it was a good meal, just not all that we were hoping for. We’ll choose Texas Roadhouse next time (or deal with the traffic and parking to find a good steakhouse near...
Read moreUpdate 7/22: Today was the 5th visit. Caroline was our server, and was knowledgeable and overall awesome!!! Our first time dining in since COVID began. They made sure to sit their customers apart. Assured us they were following all the protocols. First time for me to try something other than steak. I had the chicken fried chicken. It was amazing! So tender I didn't even need a knife to cut it! Caroline recommended the four cheese and bacon Mac and cheese. It was delicious!!! My husband enjoyed his steak. Unfortunately they no longer have the sausage and fried cheese sampler. Also, their baked potatoes were not as amazing as they've been in the past. Other than that, the food was fantastic and their customer service was spot on!!! We've never had a bad experience at Long Horn! Well done!
This is the 4th time I've been to this location and the staff never disappoints! This time we had the pleasure of Cassidy being our waitress and she was fantastic! She was knowledgeable, had a great sense of humor and everything was done in the correct time-frame! The manager was very friendly and agreed that Cassidy was awesome! Our food was excellent! Our party had the Butcher Board appetizer (YUM!), Outlaw Ribeye, 6oz Filet and 7oz Salmon. I also had the Texas Margarita. Our sides were normal and veggies. Everything was cooked perfectly and was delicious! I can tell Longhorn cares about their overall guest experience and that keeps us coming back! It was my husband's birthday and they even brought him out a birthday sundae that made him smile! It was pretty big so it shocked him a little LOL! Thank...
Read moreLast night April 29, 2016 was my Birthday; my family and I decided to celebrate at Longhorn Steakhouse locate on loop 1604 in San Antonio, TX. I was kind of hesitant about the whole ordeal at first, I suffer from PTSD really bad and last night being Friday you know it was going to be extremely busy, it is really difficult for me to have people walk behind me, so we end up having to wait a couple of hours for the right table before we can be seated, and dealing with the frustration of having to explain to everyone why I need special accommodations. last night we ended up with the best combination of server and management. First the server Sal was simply fabulous, he was so good it felt like he could read our thoughts, with a full restraint he didn't miss a beat, he was so mindful of not walking behind me, so not to startle me, but also was very attentive of all 9 guests that accompanied me for my celebration. We never had to wait for a refill or for anything extra we might need simply fabulous. Now the manager in charge last night David, I am at a lost for words not only did we not have to wait like normally he rearrange the tables so I could have a wall to my back and closed one of the booths that was behind me so I would be comfortable, his words to me were we have to accommodate our Veterans. simply left me with out words. I thank him so much there are no words for the amount of appreciation and gratitude that me and my family have for him, Thank you David! I highly recommend Longhorn Steakhouse, not only is the management and service outstanding, the food...
