Decided to try new place Saturday night on Bandera Rd to make up for Valentine's day night. Wife and I walk in to what appears to be old bar and grill, and waitress tells us we can sit at any open table. She mentions kitchen is behind about 10 minutes. So I mentioned we can put our order in while we order drinks, but she passes us by still after taking order at table next to us. Male waiter takes our drinks and upon return mentions different one than what wife ordered. She tells him correct one. He comes back with another soft drink and mentions he tasted her glass and it was actually correct. Who says or does that?! Another waitress starts tending to us who seemed to be more organized since she mentioned she came from another location to help. Half hour later we noticed others, seated after us, already getting served their meals.
Wife and I noticed a minority Indian family come in but first waitress tells them they must wait at small bench by the door even though there are empty tables by us. After about 20 minutes of non attention they got up and left. It was literally hour later before us, and another Hispanic couple with an infant at table next to us, were the last one's to be served entrees. Other non-minority patrons who were seated after us, appeared to have been served, eaten, and paying for their meals by the time we were served. By this point, my wife and I were frustrated and decided to take our meals to go after just a few bites. I go to complain to what appeared to be the manager (first waiter) standing behind the empty bar, and offer to start paying, thinking he'll at least offer dessert or something. But he then proceeds to tell me "sorry, I wouldn't have blamed you had you left restaurant earlier." Wow! Sounds like they didn't want us there. Wife tells me after we leave, that there was also some type of sewage issue when she went to ladies room. I could go on but tired of writing.. What a...
Read moreAs someone whose top three favorite foods include Italian cuisine, and having been fortunate enough to visit various regions of Italy, I have a high standard for Italian restaurants. My usual go-to's are Paesanos and Maggiano's, but I decided to give the new Italian restaurant in my neighborhood a try after reading some reviews. I opted for the Chicken Marsala with fresh vegetables. The description promised tender chicken breasts with Marsala sauce and fresh mushrooms, typically served with a side of pasta, mashed potatoes, or spinach, allowing you to truly savor the individual flavors. However, what I received was unlike any Chicken Marsala I've ever encountered. The chicken breast was sliced like fajita meat and served on a massive, tasteless bed of spaghetti, with the Marsala sauce disappointingly relegated to the bottom of the container. The chicken was dry and completely lacked flavor – not a shocking outcome for an $18.99 dish. To add insult to injury, the "fresh vegetables" ($5.99) were undeniably a frozen mixed medley, similar to what you'd buy at a grocery store like HEB. I was incredibly disappointed. My boyfriend often orders Uber Eats for me, and this experience made me understand why we typically pay around $30 for a quality Chicken Marsala dish elsewhere. Even Olive Garden, which I don't consider truly authentic Italian, serves their Chicken Marsala in a much more traditional style. This dish tasted like something you'd get from a generic pizza place that happens to offer pasta. After a few bites and a generous amount of Parmesan cheese, I simply couldn't eat anymore. The only redeeming part of the meal was the delicious bread, which, thankfully, saved me from going hungry. This meal definitely earned its...
Read moreMind-Blowing Italian Cuisine in San Antonio!
While exploring San Antonio, we stumbled upon this hidden gem, and it exceeded our expectations in every way. The pasta Trio (fettuccine Alfredo ,lasagna and chicken Parm) chicken marsala, and fried calamari were all exceptional, with each dish boasting its own distinct flavor profile a refreshing change from the usual Italian restaurants that rely on the same sauce for every dish.
The bread with oil dipping sauce was another highlight. Surprisingly light and non-greasy, it was a game-changer. And don't even get me started on the desserts the cannoli and NY cheesecake were truly to die for!
This restaurant has earned a spot on our 'must-return' list. We're already planning our next trip to San Antonio just to dine here again. If you're a foodie, do yourself a favor and make this restaurant a top priority you won't regret it!
