Today was my first time in Bigz and they did not make a very good impression.
CUSTOMER SERVICE: The place forces you to buy bigger burgers. My wife wanted a kids burger because she doesn’t eat a lot and was told she had to get a quarter pound burger (which is still too much for her). Every person behind the counter seemed to have an attitude. I mean, everyone looked like someone shot their dog. I ordered my food in advance and when asked about my order, was greeted with a very unenthusiastic young lady, who just causally went off to check on my order. When she came back, she was just like, “it’s on the grill” and walked off.
Then, they messed up my order and it was like I was being a burden when I came back up and told them they forgot my patty. When I got my second patty, I asked about grilled onions and she said she would have to ring them up. Really? Charging to throw some onions on the grill?
Now I don’t expect people to be super perky or anything like that. But, they all gave a very unpleasant vibe. I don’t think one person smiled or anything like that. You would think a place that wants to present themselves as family friendly, they would focus on being ‘friendly’.
FOOD: The burger(s) had decent flavor. I asked for medium and the patty I got first, was cooked well. The patty they forgot/added, was medium. The onion rings were bland. I would say they don’t really season their breading and add maybe don’t add pinch of salt to the onion and at the end. The fries were okay. The milkshakes were okay too. Nothing spectacular, but made fresh in front of you with a blender. My 12 year old said that her chili dog was decent, but wasn’t the best. Her bun was soggy (not quite sure why).
ATMOSPHERE: I think the place is going for a BBQ, outdoor vibe. Metallic building, high ceilings, and a large play area with turf grass. Tables are touching, making long rows. For the most part it was clean.
All in all, I don’t know if I’m going to go back or if I would recommend. Honestly, if it wasn’t for my wife’s work event, I would’ve probably asked for a refund and left. There are other places that have really good burgers and pleasant customer service. This place came off as if it was doing me a favor by...
Read moreStood in line to order food for 40 minutes. Waited 40 minutes in line to get it. We had four burgers. Our team met at 6 with a plan to gather and leave at 7:30. So we got our food at 7:20 after a 6 pm arrival. While the food tasted good, it was clear they need better prep practices and to handle the high volume of customers. They were fulfilling dozens of online orders. One of our team members found if they ordered online they'd be served 20 minutes later with there to go while everyone else made the wait for order and pick up. The other thing I noticed was half finished in restaurant orders sitting out for 20 minutes while they would stop mid order to fulfill a pick up order. Flies were all over the waiting food. I'm frankly shocked that no one has gotten sick from this or some of the other prep practices like the food prep people not wearing gloves to handle the food. Several put on gloves to move food then would touch the public counter absent-mindedly before going back to prep the food. While our food did taste good when we finally got it, it left me feeling really nervous and not likely to return. That and the super overcrowdedness just weren't great.
A different team event, another long wait experience. This time it was dirtier than before and a metal tabletop was loose and almost fell on my three year old outside. Food was worse- our bun tops came soggy in grease. A family member who had a gluten allergy is sick now thanks to cross contamination despite ordering a gluten free bun. If another team insists on a dinner here we won't be...
Read moreMy husband and I had been trying to get back to this place after a while because it gets so packed on the weekends, but we finally had a chance during the week to go for lunch when it was way more quiet. We used to love the burgers from here and it used to be one of our top burger spots, but unfortunately, it seems the quality has gone down. My husband got a cheeseburger and I got a beyond burger and both were extremely dry. His meat was way overcooked and hard, and my patty was undercooked and slightly cold in the middle. I was also a little annoyed that they don't give you a heads up on the menu, or even just tell you that the buns on the beyond burger are wheat. I eat regular burgers too, but sometimes I just prefer the taste of the "meatless" patty. Just because I want a meatless patty doesn't mean I want a wheat bun - that thing was soooo dry! The onions at the "toppings bar" were also extremely dried out and shriveled like they had been there for a couple of days. The fries were also super salty. The young lady helping to bus the tables also kept trying to take our trays when we repeatedly said we weren't done. I understand she was just trying to help, but it was somewhat bothersome. My husband was so dissatisfied with the meal that we ended up going to HEB a couple of hours later and grabbing some sushi, and even that went down much better. Overall, It was a pretty disappointing experience and I don't think we'll be returning...
