A lively and playful place with a great balance of party and comfort. You'll feel a sense of excitement and upbeat energy in a space like this and it only magnifies the togetherness you'll feel with friends and / or family.
If I had to summarize the look of the place I'd say there's a little bit of everything here. A lot of colorful lights, playful designs and decor, some simple and rustic feeling designs but still modern. It's a bit hard to put my finger on one way to describe the style but it's definitely festive and familiar so you feel right at home. Somehow it sets up well as an "appetizer" to the flavor of the dishes offered. Our table was clean and so were the dining utensils, so cleanliness is constantly upkept (you may even often see staff making a few rounds to check and tidy up spaces and keeping the place in tip - top shape).
Hosting a wide range of options, everyone can find something they'd love with ease (the bubba 33 recommendations also make it easy to pick and find a possible favorite if you aren't sure what to get). With filling portions, bubbly presentation and flavor that packs a punch, it's sure to leave you feeling more than satisfied. The fish and chips were pretty great as the fish was flaky and perfectly coated plus it came in a fairly large portion but the mac and cheese wasn't really a favorite for us as it was pretty lack luster and bland compared to how great the dish itself tasted (do be warned that substituting the sides of dishes will result in an extra charge). The shotgun shrimp po'boy with tater tots, lasagna and seasoned salmon were all pretty amazing as well and offered grand flavors that magnified the experience and every bite felt like the first with how consistent the taste was throughout. Whether you call it skill or a dash of love, the effort placed into each dish was easy to taste and deserved a good boasting right. Usually the spotlight gets reserved for the main courses, and reasonably so, but for us we had to agree that the poblano spinach dip was THE BEST we'd had of any spinach dip we had. The bread was crispy on the outside with a warm and fluffy center that paired fantastically with the gooey and smooth texture of the dip and even after having gotten extra bread there was still a lot of dip left that we had to eat with what chips and salsa we had left over (I'd say that it could comfortably be shared with 4+ people easily). Although we wish it came with more garlic bread, I definitely wouldn't mind making a meal of the dip itself!
Our waitress (I think her name was Maddy but it currently escapes me) was a delight to be served by. She was bubbly, friendly, quick and made sure that everyone was comfortable and taken of. We enjoyed how she made us feel welcomed and could easily chat with us while also giving recommendations of items people tended to like often; attentive and genuine in nature it really added to making our time there enjoyable. The staff overall were very friendly as well and communicated well with finding space for us to sit (which we didn't have a wait for when we arrived but sometimes a wait can be expected on its extremely busy days). They do their job fantastically and it shows in the vibrant energy of the customers there.
I recommend anyone to at least try this place once if they're able to and experiencing the wonderful energy and food that's offered here with others for celebrations, events or just a typical dining...
Read moreWe had a horrible experience/encounter yesterday, December 27,2024, at your Bubbas33, 6930 W. Loop 1604 N, San Antonio, Texas 78254. Attached is the letter we provided to Brady (Managing Partner). He then sat with us and was telling us that what do you want me to do and we said it is up to you and it is all in the letter. He then proceeded to tell us if we did anything we explained what the waitress Victoria did and Kitchen Manager Byram. Then he proceeded to tell us every time you come you have complaints and I said there are problems with food and asked him if he would eat burnt chicken on salad and eat old lettuce. He told us there are 1000s of places around here to eat and we told him you know we come here as we have told you before. We explained how we felt and it seem like he was implying that we are the problem, We informed him it had nothing to do with food that it was the treatment from the server and Kitchen Manager, We don't know if he was implying that we can go eat at any of the 1000 places around here instead of coming here. to Bubbas33. It also seemed like he was saying that we were the problem.
He then said he would read the letter and get back with us. It seems like he was stating that we were the problem. We have been loyal customers sometimes we do have the food taken back for example grilled chicken burnt on the salad and salad lettuce old but we are customers and we should be happy with our food we are paying for so we don't like our grilled chicken burnt so Bubba's33 has always corrected the food which is the job of the restraunt we are paying for it. We never asked for discounts on the bad food we just asked for food to be properly made and paid our full bill and provided all server's 20% for tip.
We just wanted to inform you all about the horrible experience/encounter at Bubbas33 yesterday 12/27/24. We wanted to make sure corporate knew about this mistreatment and went to Brady for resolution and he said he would read the attached letter and get back to us about the resolution. We look forward to your response and issue resolution.
We have received no calls or resolution from Brady. Look forward to receiving call, etc. BEWARE - These 3 be may nice at first then disrespect yall. Watch out...
Read moreWe have been coming here for years and have never been treated so poorly. Dined in with my family of 5 Saturday night and was served with hostility and accusations. Our waitress Ruby was hostile from the moment we sat down. Our son who is 21 ordered a drink for himself, as he always has here, but tonight, Ruby seemed to have a problem because he had a vertical ID. She confirmed that he was of legal age but because of “Bubbas ridiculous policy” (as she said) she has to follow and could not serve him. This is NOT backed by Texas law, this is restaurant policy, which we understood. We said this is the first time we are made aware of this but whatever, we let it go. I then decided to order the drink for myself. Ruby then accused and threatened me that if she sees my son take a drink that she will have to take it from my table. I decided not to be confrontational because we had our young boys with us. Not long after my drink was served , the restaurant manager Bayan comes to our table and accuses me of sharing my drink with my 21 year old son. She said she was told by “staff” that my drink was being passed around the table, but could not confirm that anyone saw him take a drink. Yes it was shared, it was shared between me and my husband who also had a drink. Never once did they see my son take a drink because he never did, he was disappointed after being refused a drink. I did get confrontational because I felt very disrespected to be accused of something that we did not do. I asked if they’re being watched and she said yes, corporate is watching. So maybe they can watch the cameras and see that he never took a drink. She offered NO apology, only accusations and hostility. I then requested that Ruby no longer serve us and she walked away without a word, nothing. We felt very discriminated and ridiculed. We should have walked out but decided to stay because surrounding restaurants were crowded. We ended the night with our server Nick who was absolutely wonderful, but will not be returning. Seems to explain why so many tables were empty on a Saturday night. I did email corporate but who knows if this will...
