Visited Camacho’s twice before reviewing because I wanted to give a well rounded review to include both drive thru and inside dining.
Let me begin by saying we went on a Saturday night after having enjoyed a massage (no happy ending)🫣. I had been craving a soup and thought we’d give this place a go.
RESTAURANT: I love the patio- super cute, lots of personality! I love the inside of the restaurant- squeaky clean, nice & inviting vibes, plenty of space between tables, lovely decor, and a über cute cantina tucked in the corner. The do have a TV for those folks that can’t live without their LUCHA LIBRE! 🤫
STAFF: All the staff that we interacted with incredibly friendly and our server was highly attentive.
FOOD: Here’s where it gets tough for me and this is the part that I hate, for a split second, then remember I have to be true amd honest. Here goes. I ordered all the soups- YES, all the soups, small size of course. They offer three sizes, which I found super! I ordered the tortilla soup, which I found to be lack luster. It was lacking in depth, it does have lots of chicken, mostly dark, but not well flavored in my ultra humble opinion. 5/10. Next was my Menudo! Wait while i slurp what’s left my bowl and tip it to my face with no shame! Okay, 10/10! It was served piping hot with cilantro, onion, lime. It was so spectacular. I want to have that near spiritual experience all over again. All I needed was a mariachi and a Zárape to complete my experience! Hot dang that was a great well seasoned bowl of Menudo made by someone’s Abuelita, I am almost sure. Lastly for the soups was the Fideo Loco. It was good but not great. It was lacking depth of flavor but definitely better than the tortilla soup. 8/10
The crispy tacos are great! 10/10! Definitely a must try! Very tasty and beautiful presentation.
Green salsa is delish with a slight kick. 6/10.
Tortillas are ultra yummy! 10/10!
DRIVE THRU-The drive thru is well set up and staff is as kind. I did have to wait but didn’t mind considering the quality of food. It wasn’t a horrible wait. We a pint of refried beans to go and a taco. Order accuracy was great. Temperature of food was superb! My agua fresca was super cold...
Read moreA new Mexican Mountain has been conquered. Always happy to find something new, or at least new to me. The tortillas, which you know is the catalyst for good or bad LOL, were good, on the thick side, powdery, all around good tortillas. I had the Mexican combo plate. Two cheese enchiladas rice and beans and a side of carne guisada. Enchiladas were great, rice and beans were great, carne guisada made me want to cry it was so good. Brownish gravy, yes please. Meat was so tender and juicy it literally melted in your mouth. The friend I was with added salt, but they add salt to everything. I thought it was perfect, obviously it had pepper it was a little spicy but it was incredible. I think I found my new Taco home. My friend just got the Carne guisada plate with rice and beans and said the same thing, they were blown away by the carne guisada. We started with the queso and It was a good cheese sauce still not my favorite but very good, might see if we can add Picadillo meat or chorizo.. Service was really great, Victoria was on it, we never went without. We also had a few people stop by to see how we were doing to make sure everything was good that was a nice touch. I don't know what this was before but I know this wasn't here. My friend and I both tried to figure out what it was but we think it's been a few things. Our hope is that it stays Camacho's because we want to come back again and again. You know it's a great place to eat when you already start planning your next meal LOL. We're looking forward to coming back and hopefully trying some breakfast tacos. Of course one of them will have to be a carne...
Read moreThe overall experience truly belied my first impressions. The decor is nice, but the sparse "lunch" menu (at dinner) and the chips and salsa already had me thinking I'd never be back. For that reason I didn't even try the queso I had been considering. Why bother?
But then my drink and entree arrived.
My rocks margarita tasted of real lime juice and not some sickly mix that's all too common in a "restaurant marg." This was very refreshing, with just the right amount of sweet. A higher quality tequila would have made it even better, but that's something to look forward to next time!
I had the picadillo puffy taco plate. It was a a tad bit greasy and a little salty – as a good picadillo should be! And then waiter Armando (who was a delight and very attentive) brought out a green salsa that leapfrogged over the red in flavor and heat. I brought some home with me! The rice and beans also were flavorful.
The puffy tacos' tortillas were flour rather than corn, and they had a really nice crispness to them. It prompted me to lift the cover on the tortillas on the table and try one. I had expected boring store-bought tortillas because of the chips served earlier, but they were hand-made and really good.
In addition to queso, I'm looking forward to trying some breakfast options, and it will be interesting to see if the menu evolves over time. Having read a few reviews, I'm also looking forward to trying the carne guisada. Apparently it's pretty tasty. I also want to find out if the barbacoa is worthwhile.
It looks like I'll be back...
