We've been to the Chuys in Austin and that was great food and service. But this San An location was just horrible. From the start, the red salsa was god awful...it was watery, bland & looked disgusting. The white ranch sauce was great tho. We ordered the boom boom pow dip which was $5. They misunderstood the order and we received a side of boom boom sauce and when we questioned, instead of bringing us the correct dip, our server brought us the missing items from the dip and we had to make our own nachoes out it (pic included). The dip would've been great if it was served as the menu indicated. Our entrees came out SO quickly. The steak burrito had the red chili sauce which contains meat. The meat on the sauce is so huge and chunky. The rice was old and sticky. The charges didnt make sense. A bean burrito is $10.49 & boom boom sauce is $1.50. Yet I was charged $12.49 for the burrito. I've included a pic of the "roasted" chkn. Firstly, it doesnt look seasoned with anything! Secondly, it looks pinkish white. When I asked our server to correct the tab, she proceeded to blame the kitchen staff saying "they dont speak good English" and she was asked to ring it in like that. Which doesnt make sense to us, how could they ask her to ring an item in like that if she only speaks English and they don't. We would've just appreciated fixing the bill, and not play the blame game. I'm sure the server made an error which is fine but to blame your kitchen staff over language barrier. When she came back with the fixed bill, she threw it on the table and continued to walk off. It was just such a waste of money for the nasty food we received and the total experience of it. This location has ruined Chuys for me. Last visit ever.

The place is amazing! We went on vacation to San Antonio and stopped here for dinner. Our waiter was Logan. They didn't have any carbonation for any of their sodas so could only offer sweet tea, water and juice. My family's real country though so sweet tea is life to us so we were totally fine with that. He forgot we ordered queso but got it later. The cooks forgot my daughter had chicken enchiladas instead of cheese ones but Logan was quick to get it fixed. He was quick, nice and friendly and he solved any issues made so no complaints here! Good job Logan! The decor in the place was amazing! From top to bottom! We loved the atmosphere and looking around! It definitely gave us a dinner topic! The food was amazing! The tortillas were homemade and fresh and even when I was done, I couldn't help but tell my family how great the tortillas alone were and I was making them all try them lol. The kids even kept talking about how good their food was. The salsa and jalapeño ranch were amazing too! Overall, I love the place and yall should definitely go!!

I've been to this location about half a dozen times now and here's my conclusion about this place:

  1. They make the tortilla, sauces and margaritas (careful it has a kick) fresh in house so none of that store-bought crap.

  2. Their FREE chips and salsa is bomb (I think it's better than Taqueria Data Point) since I prefer my chips ultra thin and crispy and the salsa to be just a little runny.

  3. Their food is consistently delicious and fresh. I've had their burritos (which is nice and big), Chuychanga (omg the crispy fried shell around it and the green sauce make this dish, just get it!), Crispy fish tacos (my favorite dish here the fish is fresh and flakey and the breading is just perfect gold) everything here is a jumbo size but if you're super hungry, order the Elvis Green Chile Fried Chicken combo which is big enough to share for two and a good way to try the different sauces they make.

  4. Service is always great. The manager (I forgot his name) took care of me above and beyond my expectations when my waiter disappeared on me (for Chuy's management team, if you're reading this I'm referring to dinner on 4/7/17 Table #46) he made a bad experience forgettable and I'm not discouraged to return.

  5. They offer a free dipping station on their happy hour (4-7 I think) and typically I'll see the queso, refried beans, salsa and ground beef stuff (yummy!)

  6. Yes, you'll get family with little ones here (what do you expect from a place with this price point? D'oh!) And at times I can imagine it to be a little crazy (though I've never experienced this, but I'm relating to other reviews) this place is a great value for a good quality, cheap and freshly cooked Tex-Mex.

I know conclusions are made at the end of your experience but I for sure am coming back for...

The worst service of my life ! Have always come here for lunch and do perfect on time. Got there at 2:20 . They sat us by the bar, the bartender was making drinks for the entire restaurant, doing to go orders, and suppose to be helping tables around him as well. Well this didn't happen. He brought us our drinks and chips and didn't come back until 25 minutes later just to take our order . Already after 3! I even had gone to the hostess asking for another waiter to help out since were on lunch he was on phone and just motioned with his finger "one second." There was a couple ahead of us as well as couple who came after us. After we ordered and were waiting for our food, I see this couple who came after us eating already. They got seated and someone else took their order but not ours. I saw a waitress come a few times but never came to us even though she and bartender saw us waiting along time. I honestly felt it was racist. All the tables around us white people got served and not us. Never will go back here. I complained to manager he gave me 3 bucks off my ticket lol. Ya a big thanks for nothing. Horrible service !! Need more staff and needs to know to serve people who got their first not put them on the back burner . Not to mention we were late back to work! We were there an hour and had to...
