If you’re searching for authentic, mouthwatering Mexican food at prices that make your wallet smile, look no further than Dos Julio’s Mexican Restaurant. We stopped by on a whim after hearing some local buzz, and I have to say — it was even better than expected.
First off, the tacos are absolutely phenomenal. I can’t overstate that enough. We tried a variety — bacon and egg, potato and egg, and bean and cheese with bacon — and every single one was packed with flavor, with fresh toppings that elevated each bite. The tortillas tasted homemade, soft with just a little char from the grill. It’s the kind of taco you can’t help but close your eyes and savor.
We also ordered a couple of combination plates, and those were equally impressive. My wife had the enchiladas with rice and beans, with a taco and chalupa. The enchiladas were smothered in a rich, savory sauce that had just the right kick, while the beans were creamy and the rice light and fluffy. My wife couldn’t stop raving about her crispy taco, perfectly golden and stuffed generously.
The service was another highlight. Our server was genuinely friendly, checked in on us multiple times, and even gave us some recommendations on what to try next time. The whole place feels like a family-run gem — you can sense the pride they take in making sure you have a great experience.
One of the best surprises came at the end of the meal. With how much we ordered (plus a couple of coffees and chips & salsa to start), I was bracing for a hefty check. But when the bill arrived, I was honestly shocked by how affordable everything was. It felt like we had just enjoyed a feast for the price of a couple of fast-food meals. In this day and age, that’s not something you find often.
The atmosphere is also worth mentioning. It’s cozy, colorful, and full of cheerful energy. You can see families laughing over big plates, friends catching up, and even a few folks grabbing quick lunches. It’s the kind of spot that’s equally perfect for a casual dinner or a celebratory night out.
All in all, Dos Julio’s has easily earned a spot on our regular rotation. Great tacos, delicious plates, outstanding prices, and service that makes you feel like family — it checks all the boxes. If you’re anywhere near the area (or even if you have to drive a bit), do yourself a favor and stop by. I promise you won’t leave hungry or disappointed.
Thank you, Dos Julio’s, for giving us such a fantastic dining experience. We’re already looking forward to our next visit, and we’ll definitely be bringing more friends and family along so they can taste what they’ve been missing. Keep doing what you’re doing — you’ve got something really...
Read moreIf you agree with me give me a thumbs up "like". Unfortunately I am forced to give my neighborhood down the street restaurant (Dos Julio’s) a 3-star. And one must wonder if the owner ever reads these reviews or realizes the impact it can have on the business. I've been to this restaurant several times and they are never consistent with service, food and professionalism. Yesterday I went there for Mother's Day, it was about 9ish AM and had my family with me; it was a total of six of us. The issues were: Our waitress brought one plate out, then about 3-minutes later, brought out another two plates, then a few minutes later brought out 2-more plates and those two orders were incorrect. So as you can imagine, we are sitting there with half our order and no utensils. After we finally received the rest of our order, we ate. The food was very good. The tortillas were really fresh. When I went to pay, I mentioned to the cashier that the ticket needed to be revised; she looked up at me and be began to scold me and said that it was our mistake and that we made them work extra for ordering incorrectly. She had to call the waitress up to the counter to clarify if we ordered 4-teas, which was incorrect; we had 4-waters and were served water. As a citizen of this area: Southside, I feel that business owners should better train their staff to highly respect customers and provide the best service they can. There is a high volume of senior citizens that live in this area and one has to wonder if this type of treatment is routine. A few recommendations for the owner would be: Cut the weeds surrounding the restaurant and paint some new parking lines and handicap designation areas more clearly. Expect your hostess and waitress's to have smiles on their faces and welcome customers to their restaurant. If I should stop by your restaurant again in the future, I hope...
Read moreMy family and I have visited this place because of their puffy taco special, they do have good puffy tacos depending. Their service isn’t always the best, unless you’re a man on lunch without a family. We were looking for a quick and less expensive dinner before heading to run some errands. We ordered two puffy taco plates and bean and cheese nachos. We get our meal the waitress brings us meat, bean and cheese nachos which we were like well fine I guess she heard us wrong, we don’t mind we will pay for them. The tea was very old tasting so we asked for them to be replaced which they were and when I was going to pick up my tea my lid wasn’t closed properly when she brought the tea back and it spilled over on my daughters nachos. I asked our waitress and sincerely apologized to see if they can remake them. She said they would, so we waited which we didn’t mind we did notice that our food was cold but didn’t want to complain as long as our daughter got her nachos fixed. They bring out the following plate in the pictures. This was so upsetting they were chips and melted cheese with beans spread on the plate at the bottom of the chips and cheese I called the manager over which took a while, she came with an attitude and rude look on her face. I asked her why she would serve us something like this, it was for my 10 year old daughter and I’m not going to allow her to eat something like this. She said “well I can only give you this because to remake it would be TO EXPENSIVE!!” I couldn’t believe what I heard that was her excuse. We didn’t even eat our plates got up and payed for what we had and left. The customers also there heard the issue and also said they were going to leave because they also have had some issues in the past but wanted to give it...
