Eddie V's Prime Seafood — Restaurant in San Antonio

This is my parents all time favorite restaurant here in San Antonio and up until today, it was also mine. We have been coming to this restaurant since 2017. We have made plenty of reservations, had many of parties and several gatherings here. We made a reservation in advance for my family of five. We brought my dad here for Father's Day with my cousin and his wife, a party of five total. Kenya is our normal waitress however, we were told it be a long wait for her so we decided to keep our 2pm reservations with a different waiter. Upon ordering appetizers I overheard a waiter telling another table they were out of certain items. Now please understand this isn't our first time here, you heard me mention our waitress name prior has pretty much been Kenya. I looked down at my watch at it was 2:19 pm, Father's Day mind you. So as our waitress began to take my order I was told they were out. My cousin's wife order an appetizer, one of their most expensive towers and she took was told they were out. I spoke up and said it's only 2:30pm and you guys haven't been open long why is it your already out of certain entrees, our waitress began to shrug her shoulders and spoke out loud and said it's not my fault. I thought deeply to myself yes that's true to an extent but it probably would have been better to say nothing at all. As we proceeded to order the waitress was either out of her comfort zone, overwhelmed, or just not able to keep up. I'm really not sure but, she fell short with her customer service, and professional skills. It took 20 additional min to get my cousin's Ginger Ale ordered after all other drinks arrived to the table, two of the entrees ordered were cold upon arriving to the table, we ordered bread and butter for our table she brought out two small portions of butter and bread for 5 to include the heals of the bread. She spilled one of the drinks onto one of the appetizers, I mean it was one fumble after another. unbeknownst to us Kenya our normal waitress came over to our table, greeting us, sharing smiles, wishing the two men in our party a Happy Father's Day, I mean the atmosphere changed immediately. Our waitress noticed this and instead of looking, listening and taking notes, attempting to measure up to the service were use to getting she decided to walkaway and help another table and do as little as possible. I cannot believe her service or lack there of became a part the conversation at one point. Most waiter's and waitress periodically come to check with the table to see if anyone wants or needs anything but, I kept noticing she was elsewhere. The time came for the bill she asked us all if we wanted to split bill or pay one check. As a family we decided to split the bill. I'm writing this because of the principle. What was NOT cool was the service or again, lack there of! I have never been so displeased and disappointed here at Eddy V's. The service which my family received was horrible. Amazing…absolutely AMAZING!!! We came to Eddie V’s for our 2nd anniversary. Neither one of us have ever been to Eddie V’s and didn’t know what to expect. We arrived at our scheduled time and was promptly The next statement is almost an understatement, we were shocked to say the least at our seating! The table was beautifully decorated with rose petals, little celebratory glitter and even a hand written note! We were beyond impressed and my Fiancée nearly melted with joy! Thank you Eddie V!

Our waitress Amber was so polite, patient and professional. I wasn’t sure what to get and Amber was more than happy to explain the menu, ingredients and even how some of the food was cooked! My fiancée and I were not familiar with the menu so we relied on Amber’s recommendations and how thankful we were that we did! I ordered the Yellowtail sashimi and a Chimichurri Steak and My Fiancée ordered an off menu Steak and Bacon wrapped prawn dish!

The Sashimi was unbelievable. I’m sorry but I don’t think I’ve had sashimi that awesome EVER! Seriously everything was superb! The food was seasoned perfectly, even the drinks were matchless!

I also ordered an Arnold Palmer but didn’t know they do not have Sweet Tea. Amber mad sure you have them sweeten the drink and it is without a doubt THE BEST Arnold Palmer I can remember drinking! We also ordered the Lobster mashed potatoes, do yourselves a favor and order some. Actually order enough to have for a few days after. Yes, they are that good! The Lobster is not little pieces left over from some other dish, it is more like lobster with a little mashed potatoes added!

After dinner Amber asked about dessert, we were told they were out of the Banana Foster cake which is what we wanted so we chose the Berries and Crème. I asked Amber for the M.O.D. because I was sooo upset over not being able to get the Banana Foster cake.

Brittney aka B-Money came over right away with our concern on her mind. She was so easy going and was a wonderful spirit to encounter. She asked me what was wrong and I said nothing at all! The food, the table setting , the drinks and more importantly, Amber, were all exquisite and made out 2 year anniversary so very special and a memory we will share forever!

She was very proud of Amber and said she would let her sweat it out a little bit before telling her she was doing an amazing job!

A few moments later Amber came with not just the Berries and Crème but a small portion of the Banana Foster cake that she flambé tables side and two glasses of Champagne! Not gonna lie, I almost teared up. I held it together, took some pics and made sure I took care of Amber for taking care of us on our special night!

Eddie V. We will make this our anniversary tradition for now on! See you on our 3rd year anniversary!

I don't even know where to start. This place was outstanding and fit for a king. I will start off with the food.

So, I went wanting the Big Eddie, but my waiter explained it was made for quite a few people. He also suggested multiple other platters I may be interested in. So after careful consideration, I took his advice and started with the crab cake. I must say this is the best crab cake I have ever had. Not only was it huge, but there wasn't any irrelevant filler, and the taste was amazing. What really put this over the top was the light layer of panko breading on top. It gave a nice crisp and really elevated the overall taste.

Next, I decided to try something I've never eaten before, so I opted for the steak tartare. It was delicious as there was a flood of flavors hitting you at the same time and also, there was a very subtle spiciness to it. I enjoyed every bite and will definitely try again.

Next up was the jumbo shrimp, which was stuffed with crab. I could have eaten a pound of these because the crab and shrimp were so delicious and flavorful. I never had anything like this and was definitely happy to know this existed.

Then I tried the scallops, which had a light sear on top and was drenched im butter. The scallops were tender and tasty as expected.

My next dish was the lobster mash potatoes. I only tried a few bites as I was beyond stuffed and had to take the rest home. I will say it was amazing, but more importantly, it had huge chunks of lobster claws in it versus most places that only put tiny pieces of lobster.

Lastly, the lobster was saved for home because there was no way I could even bite into it as my belly was ready to explode.

Service: The service was 2nd to none. I was always checked up on, I never had to ask for refills, and the most important detail to me was that my waiter never interrupted me as I was eating. To me, that is very important as I believe it is annoying when a waiter tries to speak to you as you are chewing. When I was done eating or just taking a breather, that is when they would make sure if everything was ok. Additionally, my waiter knew the menu exceptionally well and offered suggestions for me but never tried to force me to get anything. The other staff members who either brought my drinks or food were also friendly and treated me just as well.

Atmosphere: The ambiance of this place was welcoming. I loved the decor of the giant fish you can see as soon as you walk in. The lighting was low and just right to where you felt a romantic but also put you in a relaxed mood. I do like how you can partially see the kitchen if you are sitting in the middle of the restaurant.
