After listening to the hype and allure of La Gloria, I have with a mildly heavy heart say it was underwhelming.
I ordered Beef Alambre which as of writing this review (5/17/23) was 13.89. They used what seemed liked the "value" cut of the Sirloin, it was slightly tuff and chewy, marginal flavor. I feel I/you could get a better tasting ready to grill beef fajita package from across the street at HEB for $14. Also, it was like ordering from Taco Cabana, they charged $14 for 3 EXTEMELY small 3.5" diameter tortillas with what seemed like "shrinkflation" at it's finest, they compensated for the lack of Sirloin Beef with very large square cuts of bell pepper and onions and an overwhelming portion of bacon which made it almost too salty.
The corn tortillas were very tasty and balanced out some of the salt. It would have been a world of difference if they would double up the tortillas like it's done in many other places as they were almost the star of the show.
The rice and beans have their own special plate as if they're held on a pedestal, the charro beans were flavorful and well prepared. The rice was on the dryer side but, still retained some moisture to be pleasant to my palette.
My wife ordered Al Pastor which was seemingly as underwhelming as my plate for the price, 13.89. We did feel let down because of the price. It was dry and tasted as if it was cooked 3 hours earlier and had been under a heat lamp and then tossed on the griddle and over seasoned with Lawry's and Paprika. The only thing that seemed to help this dish was the tortillas and the lethargic 1/4" square pineapples.
This last menu item broke my heart the most. We ordered a, yes ONE $5 bean and cheese taco from the kids menu!!! Nothing else comes with the taco, its just 1 taco for $5. If you're reading this, PLEASE save your cash and order something from the bar menu as they're good at making drinks. Standard refried beans is all that is needed for (most) kids. Whoever made the batch of beans for this menu item may have not cared to work that day because I would feel reluctant to give them to the homeless down the way on Goliad rd. I definitely don't take kindly to saying such a negative review about my experiences at restaurants but, damn, it's...

What an amazing find and evening.Thank you Manu and Francisco for making last night so special!! We were visiting from Houston and thought we would try the new addition to the Brooks area. As we drove into the parking area we were greeted with two guitars playing quiet and relaxing theme music, not the usual heard in other restaurants. We were nervous when we drove in seeing the parking area almost full, but relieved when they were able to immediately seat us outside to enjoy the great 75 degree weather. They have done a great job in seating design and table placement to make you feel comfortable and expedites service and table turnover. It continued to get better ! Manu, our wait person was appropriately attentive, extremely knowledgable, personable, and has a service oriented ( treating each customers as #1) personality that is outstanding. We observed him serving at least 6 tables, and never did I see him frustrated nor appearing rushed. He even spent time with small talk that made us feel special. We enjoyed our drinks ( Mojito for me x2!), the ceviche was wonderfully prepared with great flavor, and all three of are main meals were outstanding in flavor, preparation, and presentation. As a fan of Mole, I found the sopa perfectly prepared with the mole a matched blend of sweet and spicy. Compliments also need to go to Francisco! As manager he circulated the tables, engaged patrons, and added to a relaxed atmosphere. I personally enjoyed talking with him about the operational aspects of setting up, opening, and creating such a warm and personal dining experience. In my opinion he is a game changer and has created a unique dining experience in the Brooks community. I am anticipating continued success and probably, at next return to San Antonio needing to have a...
