After listening to the hype and allure of La Gloria, I have with a mildly heavy heart say it was underwhelming.

I ordered Beef Alambre which as of writing this review (5/17/23) was 13.89. They used what seemed liked the "value" cut of the Sirloin, it was slightly tuff and chewy, marginal flavor. I feel I/you could get a better tasting ready to grill beef fajita package from across the street at HEB for $14. Also, it was like ordering from Taco Cabana, they charged $14 for 3 EXTEMELY small 3.5" diameter tortillas with what seemed like "shrinkflation" at it's finest, they compensated for the lack of Sirloin Beef with very large square cuts of bell pepper and onions and an overwhelming portion of bacon which made it almost too salty.

The corn tortillas were very tasty and balanced out some of the salt. It would have been a world of difference if they would double up the tortillas like it's done in many other places as they were almost the star of the show.

The rice and beans have their own special plate as if they're held on a pedestal, the charro beans were flavorful and well prepared. The rice was on the dryer side but, still retained some moisture to be pleasant to my palette.

My wife ordered Al Pastor which was seemingly as underwhelming as my plate for the price, 13.89. We did feel let down because of the price. It was dry and tasted as if it was cooked 3 hours earlier and had been under a heat lamp and then tossed on the griddle and over seasoned with Lawry's and Paprika. The only thing that seemed to help this dish was the tortillas and the lethargic 1/4" square pineapples.

This last menu item broke my heart the most. We ordered a, yes ONE $5 bean and cheese taco from the kids menu!!! Nothing else comes with the taco, its just 1 taco for $5. If you're reading this, PLEASE save your cash and order something from the bar menu as they're good at making drinks. Standard refried beans is all that is needed for (most) kids. Whoever made the batch of beans for this menu item may have not cared to work that day because I would feel reluctant to give them to the homeless down the way on Goliad rd. I definitely don't take kindly to saying such a negative review about my experiences at restaurants but, damn, it's...

What an amazing find and evening.Thank you Manu and Francisco for making last night so special!! We were visiting from Houston and thought we would try the new addition to the Brooks area. As we drove into the parking area we were greeted with two guitars playing quiet and relaxing theme music, not the usual heard in other restaurants. We were nervous when we drove in seeing the parking area almost full, but relieved when they were able to immediately seat us outside to enjoy the great 75 degree weather. They have done a great job in seating design and table placement to make you feel comfortable and expedites service and table turnover. It continued to get better ! Manu, our wait person was appropriately attentive, extremely knowledgable, personable, and has a service oriented ( treating each customers as #1) personality that is outstanding. We observed him serving at least 6 tables, and never did I see him frustrated nor appearing rushed. He even spent time with small talk that made us feel special. We enjoyed our drinks ( Mojito for me x2!), the ceviche was wonderfully prepared with great flavor, and all three of are main meals were outstanding in flavor, preparation, and presentation. As a fan of Mole, I found the sopa perfectly prepared with the mole a matched blend of sweet and spicy. Compliments also need to go to Francisco! As manager he circulated the tables, engaged patrons, and added to a relaxed atmosphere. I personally enjoyed talking with him about the operational aspects of setting up, opening, and creating such a warm and personal dining experience. In my opinion he is a game changer and has created a unique dining experience in the Brooks community. I am anticipating continued success and probably, at next return to San Antonio needing to have a...

We came to eat on a Saturday night. We were happy that we didn't have a problem finding parking and got seated right away (unlike at the Pearl location). The salsa that came with the chips was very tasty and I appreciated that we didn't pay for it like in previous times in other locations. We ordered the queso fundido with chorizo and that was really good. I ordered the mole enchiladas and they were delicious. The taste was very rich and better than Nichas mole that I just had a few days ago. My husband ordered the shrimp with chicken. I tasted both shrimp and chicken and I loved the sauce the shrimp came in. The chicken was moist and flavorful. Both dishes came with rice and beans and they were pretty good. The drinks were the reason why we chose the place to begin with and they didn't disappoint. The Pina margarita was so good! The only thing I would say needs some stepping up is the elote. Knowing that there are Mexican elote places right around the corner, maybe try to bring that up with white corn and different chile sauce. Shoot, I say team up with the Mexican elote stand that's by the cvs and 37... They're always taking my money 😂 I know it takes something good and different if you're going to make it on the Southside with Mexican food. Please give it some time to develop here and don't leave us like Luna Rosa did. There are people willing to pay extra to have a calm and less crowded dinner experience on this side of town.

I'm sorry to say my party was not impressed at all. Overpriced and the food was burnt and tasteless. The chips were super hard. I liked the roasted flavor brown cold salsa. We had sopes and the fundido with the cheese that was hard to spread and burnt to the side of the bowl. I feel bad for the dishwasher lol. It was loud in there and hard to hear our waitor. he accidentally brought my friend two of what she ordered instead of one so he took it back. The corn tortillas came crumbling in pieces so he took them back and brought flour ones. I wanted to love this place. I hear the micheladas have soy sauce in them...🤨😬🤣 but people say they are good just like they looove the hard burnt cheese fundido lol. If I go back, it will be to sit outside and enjoy the music and less echo and hopefully the chairs outside are less hard metal and I'd go for drinks after work. The few appetizers were as expensive as a plate of food with rice and beans when this place sells mostly a la carte and not full plates. The prices hurt to look at fir everything, even the guacamole and chili con queso. They should reconsider their menu. They don't bring you a menu unless you ask since there is a barcode on the table to scan.
