I was simply passing by and decided to have a late breakfast here. It was my first time trying out this small and cozy establishment. I was pleasantly surprised with the great tasting food I ordered. The tacos are fair sized and the food is portioned generously. The carne guisada is tender and savory and it wasn't full of fatty chunks. The flavor was spot on for what I think good carne guisada should taste like. Chorizo and egg taco was cooked well and in good proportion. Another plus was that it was not drowning in grease. I also had a migas taco and it did not disappoint. The corn tortilla strips were crunchy and the melted cheese was creamy and not greasy. The tortillas are obviously hand made and prepared by experienced hands. They are soft but hold up well for tacos and they do not get hard as they cool off. Lastly, I need to mention their hot green salsa. It's not the light green avocado and cilantro salsa that is typically served at taqueria style restaurants. Personally, I do not enjoy that salsa flavor profile with breakfast tacos. But this green salsa is the hot green salsa that pairs well with everything from menudo to bacon and egg tacos. I loved it!I wasn't able to eat all of my food, but I enjoyed every bite until I was too full to continue. This restaurant is budget friendly and they even offer breakfast specials during the week. My order was prepared promptly and served quickly. The waitstaff was friendly and very attentive. I wanted to give 5 stars, but I only tasted 3 tacos and I'm eager to try more of their delicious food. Most certainly going...
Read moreThe place is small but has a good amount of seating. It took a few minutes to get our menus but the server was very nice, just busy. She remained attentive throughout our meal. I ordered the barbacoa plate and because I have to try the carne guisada everywhere I go, I ordered a taco of that as well. My husband ordered an enchilada plate that came with a crispy taco.
My plate came with barbacoa, easily enough to make 2 tacos, refried beans, potatoes and two tortillas. The barbacoa was tasty and best of all not greasy. The potatoes were soft with a crispy crunch, also not greasy. The refried beans were some of the tastiest beans I’ve ever had. I would go back just to have more of those beans. The flour tortillas were homemade, thick and soft. So good.
My husband loved the crispy taco, it was stuffed full of meat. And said everything on his plate was delicious.
So now for the carne guisada test. I like brown not red. And it was brown. Tender and tasty. Definitely will go back again.
As soon as you walk in you can smell all the goodness! I recommend you...
