We recently visited Handel’s Ice Cream in San Antonio with our whole family, and I have to say, it was one of the best ice cream experiences we’ve ever had! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm welcome and an impressive selection of unique local flavors that immediately caught our eye.

The shop itself has such a fun and lively vibe, perfect for families looking to cool down and treat themselves. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, offering samples and sharing their recommendations, which made it so much easier for us to choose from the wide array of delicious options.

What really stood out was the commitment to local flavors—each scoop was bursting with freshness and creativity. My kids loved the creamy Blue Monster, and my partner couldn’t stop raving about the decadent Buckeye flavor. As for me, I went for the Texas-inspired Banana Cream Pie, and it was absolute perfection. Every bite was so smooth, rich, and packed with flavor that it felt like a true indulgence.

The portions were incredibly generous—definitely worth every penny! We also appreciated the comfortable outdoor seating area, which gave us a great spot to relax and enjoy our treats in the warm Texas sunshine.

It’s rare to find an ice cream shop that feels so inviting and delivers such high-quality products. Handel’s definitely nailed it! Whether you’re a local looking for a new favorite spot or just visiting the area, do yourself a favor and make a stop here. You won’t be disappointed! I checked out this place for its grand opening. I've never heard of Handel's before so I wasn't sure what to expect. But let me just say, WOW! I was so impressed. While I wasn't adventurous in trying out many different flavors. The Chocoholic Chunk literally made me see the stars! It was that good 🤩 The location is very well sized. There is limited seating but unless they're constantly packed, which I hope they get all the business, it shouldn't be a problem to find a quick seat if you choose to eat there. The employees were all absolutely lovely today. While it's wasn't a 100% smooth experience due to some delays at the cash register. That was not a problem for me, everyone is still learning and it was understandable. So if you visit during it first few weeks and I reccomend you do if you love ice cream. Please remember to be kind. There are plenty of options on the menu for everyone and even a small selection of vegan flavors. I will be returning to this place to try more flavors very soon. Wow! Just wow! If you love ice cream you must try this place! I wanted to take a pic of my ice cream but I inhaled it way too quickly. You might think it is pricy…. But when you see the size of a single scoop, insane! High quality, you can taste each note of flavor. I got the salted caramel truffle and kiddo got the strawberry cheesecake! The chunks of cake in the strawberry cheesecake were amazing! You could tell exactly what you ordered! Brought home a pint of rocky road and the staff was nice enough to keep it in the freezer until we were ready to go home! The young lady that served me was very knowledgeable and sweet! It isn’t these days to work in customer service but I was greeted with a smile and I matched her attitude. Sometimes workers just need a smile and knowledge that they are appreciated!!
