Las Islas Marias — Restaurant in San Antonio

This place is extremely delicious UNFORTUNATELY my wife and I went for a late dinner because of our work schedule we got there at 9:25pm by the time waitress came it had passed 10 minutes which that's great but what followed was not acceptable and will not be spending my hard earned money there anymore.

Waitress; we close kitchen at 10pm because the cooks leave at that time

Me; ok let me start with two beers and my wife wants a Margarita

Waitress; Can I take your order before they close the kitchen?

Me thinking ok no problem, I worked kitchens before and from my experience kitchen is open till we get the last order from the last customer that walked in the establishment.

FOOD is here and I ordered 2 more beers it's now 9:45 pm fastest service ever, 5 minutes later while eating we get our bill placed on the table, now I'm getting the feel that we are being rushed out of here and I was right because while we were still eating almost done but not yet here comes the waitress asking us if we were done so she can take our plates because now the dishwasher employee has to leave 🤬 I am not ever eating there again, I have spent many dinners there before and always spend over 100.00 dollars for two each time not to mention a dinner party for 25 which I paid for entirely over 800.00 for that, but rushing me out of your place after you served me felt like someone was shoving my food down my throat I was not a happy PAYING CUSTOMER AND WILL NOT BE RETURNING EVER AGAIN AND WILL BE TELLING OTHERS ABOUT MY LAST EXPERIENCE...

The food is good but the waitress need to stop putting there tips in the receipt without asking. I already complained once to a waitress about 2 months ago asking why they charged me extra 16$ and they say and I quote “if there is 6 or more people the waitress charges the tip already in the receipt” when there was only 5 people with us that day. About a month ago I went again with 6 People which was people and got charged wayyy less than what I did the first time because the waitress didn’t put the tip inside the receipt, I left happy that day and was glad to tip the waitress. TODAY 09/27/20 I went in with the same 6 people got the same food we got last time we went and got charged LOTS more today !! I ask for a receipt and it’s 115.46$!! and I ask myself “why so much?” And I check if she charged tip and she did. I just left about 20 minutes ago and was sitting in the long table right by the front door. The waitress was short and wore glasses and had a bun. We gave her 120$ EXPECTING to give us back the change because we told her but she never came back and we could not see her anymore so we left really disappointed and we will probably not be going soon anymore. This is not the first time a customers complain, there has been times where we hear people saying they should not take away the tip without asking. I find that so disrespectful & makes the restaurant look bad. I recommend the manager to do something about this. Because if it happens one more time I will not stay quiet about it . This restaurant has been the best Mexican Seafood restaurant in SA thus far. They bring you Ceviche which is fish with lemon. It tastes so good! I give that alone a 5. They bring chips and Red Salsa. The Red Salsa isn’t that great tasting, but it’s edible. I found this restaurant to be giving because they treated us to a snack before our meal. That was nice. My shrimp platter was excellent because of the batter!! Wow!! All I can say is fried shrimp never tasted this good!! The veggies were bland, and they needed seasoning, but they were still edible and enjoyable with that Pancho Bigotes you see on my pics. That was amazing! Now I need to find out if HEB sells it because I loved it. It was Cilantro and Serrano flavor. The fries were bland without flavor and a bit hard. I didn’t eat mine. The beans were great especially because I ordered Pico de Gallo for them, and it was excellent! I didn’t like the fact that they don’t carry Cocktail Sauce or Horseradish or Tabasco.
