UPDATE. YUM. YUM. OH MY YUM. Today I bought the sausage roll, the jalapeno sausage kolache, the bacon and egg kolache, the mixed berry roll and the cream cheese roll. I couldn't pick which is my favorite for any reason because they are all fantastic. And no I did not try them all at the same time I took them to go LOL. But let me tell you it was really hard to not want to just pull over into a parking lot and devour them all. If you get a chance park on the side and make the walk around because you will not be sorry. Supporting local.
UPDATE. I'm still in love with you. Fresh baked small batch goodies. Sweet. Savory. DE-LICK-ABLE!!!
Finally made it into this local Ukrainian bakery. Why I waited this long i'll never know. Okay let's talk about the two elephants in the room. The small room. That's one of the elephants. Only one little table that you could sit at but it seems like most people are getting things to go. There were four of us in here at the same time, two sitting and myself and a woman in line. And it was crowded. And the other elephant is the parking. It could be a little challenging but you can park in the parking lot at the end and walk around. Now, elephants out of the way, you will want to make your way through those obstacles. Wonderful pastries sweet and savory. I tried the ground beef wrapped in pastry. Don't expect picadillo, its not that. Also tried the pig in the blanket. YUM. These people are baking with old fashion traditional ways and in small quantities and fresh fresh fresh. That said, don't get there too late like I did (almost 2pm). I really wanted to try the Samsa chicken with cheese and the chorizo and green onion. Maybe next time. I noticed someone in front of me buying a few slices of cake to go and trust me they looked incredible. They also sell Frozen things that you can go home to cook like pierogies, dumplings and cabbage rolls everything sounds really good! I'm going to have to give everything a try. No really. That beautiful blueberry puffy cloud pastry was calling my name. Next time I'll get a bigger order and make the parking...
Read moreI was greatly surprised when I found this hidden gem in Olmos! I am always curious about trying new flavours and I was in for a treat. Salty pastries as well as sweet baked goods are delicious. I tried one of their chicken filled turnovers and it was full of chicken which made it tasty and feeling as well… the pastry was light and fluffy and not greasy at all. They have a wide variety of sweets sure to please everyone in your party. Customer Service was great as they kindly explain what is in each item so you can make an informed choice. Looking forward to come back and try something different the next time and take some of the homemade dumplings to share...
Read moreit was my first time in this place. I wanted to try the pasties. I bought 3 chebureks, 2 pies with potatoes and 2 with cabbage. the filling in the potato pie was unpleasant over-salted gray potatoes with pieces of raw onion. The cabbage pie was raw and undercooked dough. And looks like the dough for the pasties was made from dumplings and there were also pieces of raw onion inside. The cookies as a sweet nuts with condensed milk were edible. I ended up throwing away everything I bought. I will not be back to this place. there is more better kolache...
