First, parking for this place is a little squirrely if it is busy bc of the location but i went at lunch time early and I found parking with no issue around the backside of the building. Inside, you walk in and it smells like Italian food immediately! Yummy that smell of garlic! Very simple and cozy interior. Booths and tables and chairs. it is not a large place but intimate and on the side of dark. For food, they start you with some bread and butter. Albeit, it is GARLIC butter, but in the end I just couldn't adjust to the taste of it because my tastebuds wanted a hot toasted bread for the garlic butter. It wasn't bad - bc it was indeed fresh - but my senses were having a hard time adjusting to cold garlic butter on cold bread. We ordered the Italian Honey Fries to start. The pic on the website leads you to believe these are crispy fries to start with then add the honey and the bacon. Our fries were soft fries with honey and bacon. Soft in terms of they were bendable like - I bent it in half and it did not break LOL. I wasn't a fan (thus the 4 star for food) and I just didn't get the delicacy that this was suppose to be. For me - again, this is a ME thing - getting my hands all sticky with honey on a limp frie - just wasn't so tasty. They were OK. I had the lasagna which was oh so wonderful! It was piping hot and very tasty. Perfect amount of noodle to meat to sauce ratio! My friend had the lunch special spag and meatballs (2 big ones!) which she loved and the Italian Wedding soup which she also loved. The service was impeccable and attentive. Would I come here again? ...

My husband and I chose this restaurant specifically because we were excited about the revamping of the location and positive reviews of the original restaurant. We went on a Friday, there was a 20 minute wait which is no big deal but it would have been nice to know that they did not have their alcohol license so we could use that time to go buy a bottle of wine next door. Once we were sat it took literally 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us. Our server proceeded to tell us about buying wine next door so my husband did that. Once my husband returned, we waited 15 more minutes for our server to tell us he'll bring wine glasses. He never did. Multiple staff members walked past us and never asked to help, even though we clearly had no drinks, food, or wine glasses and just an unopened bottle of wine in front of us. We left after 30 minutes of waiting and went to Barbaro for pizza because it seemed like we were forgotten or ignored- not a very good date night feeling to have.

The entire time we were there it looked like the staff did not have a handle of what was going on. Food was dropped and patrons were brought wrong food items.

It was an unfortunate experience- one that we had high hopes for. This review is based on the service, not on the food, as we did not actually get served anything in the hour...

I visited the original Volare location late 2019, and I genuinely believed it to be the best pizza I've eaten! When I planned a new vacation to San Antonio, visiting the relocated restaurant was #1 on my to-do list. We visited for dinner on 5/30.

The pasta my girlfriend and I shared - excellent. The sauce was heavy, and the meat was superb. We rated this a 9/10.

Next up was the pizza. At first glance, it appeared just as colorful and fresh as my original experience back in 2019. However, the majority of the bottom crust was extremely soggy. The wetness ruined what was otherwise a perfect pizza. I don't know how this happened (did they reuse a dirty plate)? I took a photo of the plate showing the liquid the pieces were on top of.

Elva was extremely kind and understanding of the situation, I was very impressed with her service as well as our servers. She even took the plate back to the chefs as they couldn't believe the issue. Elva felt bad for us, but unfortunately the restaurant could not give a discounted receipt for the pizza issue. She mentioned a manager or the owner has to be present in order to give a discount (seems like upper management is very strict). We were already full, which is why we didn't ask for a replacement pizza.

I'm willing to try Volare sometime again, hopefully this was a...

A True Gem of Italian Cuisine! I can’t say enough good things about this incredible Italian restaurant! From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed with hospitality that makes you feel like family. The staff is attentive, friendly, and always eager to recommend the best dishes. And speaking of food—every bite is a masterpiece! The pasta is perfectly cooked, the sauces are rich and flavorful, and the ingredients taste fresh and authentic. Whether you’re indulging in a classic like lasagna or trying one of their chef’s specials like Pasta de la Nona, you’re in for a treat. And don’t even get me started on the desserts—the tiramisu is an absolute must-try! Beyond the food and service, the ambiance is equally impressive with live music Fridays and Saturdays. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, creating the perfect atmosphere for a cozy dinner or a celebratory meal with friends and family. Good amenities overall, making the entire experience even more enjoyable. If you’re looking for authentic Italian cuisine, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere, this is the place to be. Highly recommend!

We love this neighborhood Italian restaurant. We visited Volare a few times when it first opened and had the pleasure of returning for date night on Friday. The restaurant is taking the required COVID precautions by limiting seating at spaced tables, taking temperatures, and sanitizing in between customers, which we were very thankful for given that there is not outdoor seating. When we arrived we were quickly seated once our table was cleaned and were brought water & wine while we looked over the menu. We decided on mozzarella sticks (just ok), a Cesar salad, lasagna, and linguine vongole. Our salad and meals were fantastic and freshly made. What made the whole experience just perfect was the musician playing guitar, keyboard, and flute! It was the perfect evening out.
