This is hands down the most underrated pizza place in all of San Antonio! It's a bit expensive which is why I expect most people are hesitant to try it, but if you're looking for reeaaally good pizza and not just some $5 deal for something that tastes like cardboard, then you need to get yourself a slice of Rome's.
They have some really unique flavor combinations on their signature pizzas, so, if nothing else, it's refreshing to taste something considerably different than what you've had before. Also ,if you're a college student and really just have trouble spending more than $10 for a meal, they do offer a lunch special that offers you some different options to choose from to build a good-sized plate.
As much as I love this place, unfortunately, I do understand why it doesn't get more love. With the ridiculous amount of deals from major pizza places allowing you to get large pizzas for as low as $8-$10 each, $15-$20 for a healthy human portion seems a bit too much, but the following saying is extremely relevant here; you get what you pay for.
Anyway, for the guys out there, just know this... buy your girl a box of this stuff, and she'll forget all about that text she found on your phone to Shaniqua at 3am. When she sees that Rome's box in your hands, she'll stuff the pizza in her mouth which will stop the yelling, and then she'll eventually go into a carb coma for the rest of the night leaving you free to go out clubbin' with Stefanya or just have some buds over for Madden and enjoy whatever crust pieces she left you. Everybody wins... ...except Shaniqua. She doesn't get any pizza... You gotta cut that ish off.
Rome's. 60% of the time, it...

I absolutely love the thin crust. It has a crispy bottom that holds up the slice with a delightful chew. Their sauce is fantastic, and the cheese is great. My usual choice is anchovies, garlic, Italian sausage, & red onions - but this visit I went for the San Antonio Restaurant Weeks Special. Let me say that this is a huge meal for one for the price, and would make an AWESOME date night shared dinner. I got the Greek Salad and was surprised that it was their large size, a very shareable size, lightly dressed. Then I got Rome's Special pizza that was one of the Restaurant Weeks specials. It was perfectly done, toppings well blended on top, and a delight to chew. A serving of baklava was also part of the deal, and it was enough for 2 to share. They do not LOOK like big pieces, but by the time I finished the whole piece, I was enjoying quite the sugar rush - that was a FUN motorcycle ride home with the stereo blasting!
I've been visiting this location since I first moved to town (WAY BACK) in 88 when a friend told me about them, and the consistency and quality have always been spot-on. I've worked in a handful of pizza places, and this one is always perfect, counters, floors, drink station, kitchen, bathrooms, everything is always clean if not for an occasional freshly vacated table. And the staff is always...
Read moreWaited an hour for our pizza. Arrived at 6:17 pm. There was a line, but we were able to place our order by 6:20pm. It's now 7:20pm - an hour later. Three people after us in line received their pizza, yet we still had not. It was a simple order, 12" pepperoni with mushrooms. Manager, who was a young kid, gave us an apology. Still no pizza. This was our second time at this store. Will not be returning and would not recommend.
UPDATE, following owner's response: Gus, thanks for the response. My hypothesis is that our order was forgotten about or misplaced in some fashion. Three guests who arrived after us received their order, yet we never received ours. Therefore, to categorize this experience as a "delay in getting our pizza out" in my opinion is inaccurate. Yes, we did have an extreme delay given the amount of guests in your restaurant overall, but more than a delay... our order was forgotten. So you are aware, we DID ask a team member about our order. After continued waiting and empty reassurances, we also asked for a refund, as we never received our pizza. I am very disappointed because we enjoy the food at your restaurant. However, the service and management at this location is POOR. The manager had no real explanation for us, mumbled apologies, and offered us nothing to appease the hassle we received. Given this, I have serious doubts about ever returning, and I cannot recommend your restaurant in it's...
