UPDATE: Ran into a waitress who works here and she said they have new management and the owner is responding to all 1 star reviews with an apology/explanation. I guess there is no explanation for what happened to my father and me.
Been to Ruth's Chris steak houses across America at least on 5 other occasions and this was such a bad experience it left my father and me in disbelief. This is also the worst looking Ruth's Chris I have ever seen. I've seen Red Lobsters that look higher end than the inside of this one.
My father and I asked for a table for 2. They turned us away and said there were no seats available. As we were walking out the door, I saw there were multiple tables open and some private 2 seater booth tables along the wall and inquired about them. The woman said "Yes those are available but they only seat 2 people".
I'm not sure if the woman did not know that 2 = 2 or if she was trying to get us to leave but I had to insist we be seated there. When we were seated, we were seated at a table that rocks extremely far to the point where if the drinks were set isle side, they'd fall off. We asked the woman who seated us to change to one of the other 3 available tables but we were told we could not as they were dirty. When we asked if they could wipe them down really quickly so that they wouldn't be dirty, they refused for some unknown reason.
After waiting 20 minutes for a waiter, we went over to the woman seating people and asked who our server was. She said the bartender would get to us eventually. What a JOKE. The bar was packed. The bartender could not see us, AND the bartender was not notified at all that we were even there. We would have been there until closing without placing an order if that woman had her way. After complaining, we were assigned a waiter. Then the waiter offered to let us move to one of the 6 tall tables that seats 4 each. Which remained empty the entire time we were there - which goes to show that the woman seating us truly just wanted us to leave for some reason.
We got our appetizers and the calamari was raw. It wasn't even cooked. It was also drenched in a very sweet and sugary tangy fruity sauce. Which is disgusting, that is not how calamari is supposed to be. I informed our waiter that the cook forgot to cook our food and he took it back and brought us cooked calamari. Frankly, it wasn't very good and it was still drenched in that insane sauce but we did not complain.
We finally got our steaks. Mine was medium rare or at least, it was supposed to be. At the Ruth's Chris in New Jersey and deep San Antonio, my knife glided right through the steak like butter. No matter how much strength I put into THIS steak, it would not cut and it was as hard as a rock. The manager came over to apologize that the calamari did not come out right the first time and informed us she was removing it from our bill. I asked her to try to cut my steak and she tried... but was not able to. So she took it back and brought me a new one which was not much better, very tough, but was able to be cut. From that point on the manager was our waiter, which was embarassing as it meant we were recognized as a problem table when we sent food that was not cooked at all back and food that was not even able to be cut by the manager.
The mashed potatoes while expensive were made of box powdered mashed potatoes. Not even real mashed potatoes. I know this because it was not fully mixed in and I got clumps of powder while the mashed potatoes were watery and way too much like a smooth liquid. I asked the waiter if they use real potatoes they mash themselves and he said yes. So, I am assuming for Christmas to prep for the rush, they used instant mashed potatoes - but since the cook was clearly not very good at all, he even messed up the instant powder potatoes.
In the end our bill came out to $270 after a 20% tip. But we left hungry and dissatisfied. On the way home, we stopped by a Denny's and had their Christmas special dinner and it was...
Read moreMe and my wife went for our 4:15 pm reservation for a casual dinner. When we arrived we were the only guests in the restaurant at the time. We had multiple staff that kept coming up to us, including the manager, saying, "Congratulations." We were just there to eat, not a celebration. Whatever. Then all the staff kept trying to sell us alcoholic beverages, and my wife and I don't drink. Even though we told them we don't drink alcohol, it was offered a couple more times after that. Whatever, once again, we just want to eat. So bread was on the table first. It was good. Then we ordered the Ahi appetizer. It was good. Then we ordered a split blue cheese dressing wedge salad. It was good. Then we got our sides and steaks. I got the filet and shrimp medium rare. My steak was far medium. Whatever, again. My wife got the Cowboy ribeye and WOW. Over salted to the max! Tasted awful. There was a salt shaker already on the table if she wanted salty beef. Whatever, again. So they brought here another one, 15 minutes later. Meanwhile, I didn't want to eat my steak in front of my wife, so I put my utensils down. By the time my wife's steak was cooked correctly, I went to eat my steak and it was bone cold. Being it served on a 500-degree plate was now well done. I got filet and shrimp. My shrimp was cold and awful. By this time the manager with no smile came to our table and looked like he was upset at us. WOW! Me and my wife were very polite with the staff and felt bad to complain about the salted beef steak. Then our bill with a tip was $280. Biggest waste of money and time I've had in a restaurant. Don't go here, trust me. Incompetence at it's full. Simple corrections could have been made appropriately but this restaurant...
Read moreWe have visited this establishment many times throughout the years. It has always been a wonderful experience. This past weekend, we decided we wanted to treat ourselves, so we agreed on Ruth chris. When we walked in, we were asked, "Can I help you?" Instead of 'How can I help you?" I immediately knew something was off. I responded, "A table for 2" The manager proceeds to tell us that there's a dress code and we weren't dressed properly. So we left. We have never had an issue before in our t-shirt and jeans, so we looked up the "new" dress code. The website for Ruth Chris states causal attire is welcome, but if they find anything you're wearing to be offensive, they can ask you to leave. My husband was wearing a puma shirt and a native American wolf cap. And I was wearing black jeans and an MMIW shirt. Which stands for MURDERED MISSING INDIGENOUS WOMEN. I called.back to speak to the manager to ask what exactly we were wearing that was offensive, not only did he answer the phone with a sigh as if i was bothering him but and he couldn't give me a direct answer. It was just a bunch of talking in circles. And something else I don't really like sharing, but I feel it is important in this situation. My husband was in a house fire when he was a child. He suffered burns on over 50 percent of his body. His skull was damaged in the fire, and he lost half of his skull. He wears a ballcap for protection. To protect his skull for the elements. To keep people from staring at his injury. It's absolutely disgusting that you would ask him to remove something that helps him feel safe. Something that keeps him protected.
The manager is a joke....a suit doesn't change the color of your...
