Melanie thankfully, a Child of GodMelanie thankfully, a Child of God
We use drive thru. Good: location is close to us; usually has fast, friendly service. We don’t visit often, but maybe a couple of times a month. It used to be a sweet woman who was quick but good. Then, there was a young man several months back who was very friendly and professional, but my special order was made wrong, so he said keep it and feed the homeless down the street with it (instead of him taking it to throw away). My orders usually are made correctly. For this specific order: We ordered 2 sets of the 3 flautas with queso. They’re ALWAYS good, but they are probably frozen from a bag and heated to serve. I’m not sure. Still our favorite item on the menu! The 2 flour tortillas were small, but seemed homemade, so that’s good. The lettuce seemed fresh. The queso was good too. The bad: The last 2 times we ordered TexMex enchiladas, there was barely a spoonful of cheese inside and it wasn’t even melted. Use the microwave better (that you can see from the drive thru), but it would probably dry out the terrible food. Plus, there was no cheese at all on top of them, and barely sauce. I’m not paying around $10 for 3 corn tortillas and a spoonful of cheese! Then, the rice must have been old bc it was just dried clumps. The refried beans were very thick and dry with little taste, but they actually had a spoons worth of cheese on top… go figure!!! On this trip, the menu says “Green Enchiladas” are now available, but I was told that if they do serve them, it’s only in the morning. That doesn’t even make sense, and a huge disappointment! They gave me grief for trying to use my $5 rewards and sd they couldn’t scan my App. When I asked how do I redeem my $5, they asked for my phone #. Not too difficult, it just takes effort on their part. And we weren’t given a receipt, so we have no idea what we paid for. Once home, my 19 yr old daughter called to complain about the enchiladas plate. They seemed annoyed and wanted her off the phone. They sd they’d replace it if we came back, and when were we coming back? She sd in 20 minutes, so we could eat the flautas. They sd go through drive thru again and explain to get new order and hung up without giving their name or taking hers! Once we drove back, we explained about the enchiladas and rice. they seemed annoyed again and wanted the employee’s name or receipt, which we didn’t have. Just sd that we spoke to a man. They sd drive up and it would be ready. We drove up, were going to give them our enchiladas box to show them but they didn’t notice, and waited several minutes. They handed me a little box and sd “sorry” like they didn’t mean it and still annoyed. In the box was 3 TexMex enchiladas with no cheese on top, had a little more cheese inside than the first set and more sauce on top, but no fresh rice or beans. At that point, we were exhausted, hungry, and super annoyed after the awful experience and service we received. If we return, it’s only for flautas, but it more than likely won’t be to this location. I’d rather drive farther to receive better service and quality food. The owner should hire better people. Side note: a previous visit, we came 5 mins to closing and we saw them throw out bags and trays of lettuce, onions, tomatoes, tortillas, etc bc it didn’t sell. Again, we’d ordered TexMex enchiladas, and they were empty like this visit. You’d think they’d serve it to make happy, returning customers, instead of disappointed and cheated customers who won’t return. I even suggested to the employee about an App called “Too Good To Go” so they could try making at least a little $ off of it, if they can’t feed the homeless with it or customers.

SO VERY AWFUL!!! It was my first time at this location. (I usually go to the Marbach location) I went to redeem my reward on my app for 2 free tacos, including beef or chicken fajita, carne guisada with cheese, or any other breakfast taco, given to me as a birthday gift. When I tried to give my order, the lady on the intercom rudely told me to hold on. She came back and rude rushed me after telling me to wait and took my order. I ordered 2 carne guisada tacos with cheese, which was one of the options specified on the coupon. I had a 2nd order, for 1 carne guisada with cheese and 1 bacon/egg with cheese. (My daughter had the same birthday deal. Her birthday was on Friday 11-13-20 and my birthday was on Sunday 11-15-20.) There was only 3 cars in front if me and it took over 10 minutes to reach the window. I had my app ready and had pressed the coupon, which activated a timer that gave me 3 hrs and some mins to use it before it expires. She tried scanning it and it didn't want to take. She said it was because I ordered the tacos with cheese. After she scanned it, she wanted to scann it again, but I couldn't find it anymore. She impatiently told me to bring it back up and as I tried frantically to retrieve it, she raised her voice at me, to give her my phone number. I gave it to her at her request, but was also able to find the coupon back on my app, after I got out of it and went back on. She tried it again and told me it won't take it, so she couldn't give me my order. I told her I would pay for the cheese and she told me it still wouldn't go through. So I asked her to speak to the manager and she said she was the manager on duty. (Her name was Rose) I told her that if she could see that I have the birthday reward on my app, why couldn't she honor it to redeem it and she continued to tell me, she couldn't help me and stood there looking at me, like she expected me to say ok and leave. I had waited in line and went through her rude treatment, to not get service. So I asked her, to please get someone who could help me and she said, she was more than sure I knew how to look up the corporate number to speak to someone. I told her, why couldn't she give me the number to someone to help me with this matter. She then grab the bag with my first order of 2 tacos and literally put it right in front of my face, I thought it was going to hit me, and told me in a loud tone, you're fighting for 2 tacos, then here take them! I couldn't believe what was happening! I was astonished at her behavior and I felt threatened by her actions. At that point, I wanted to drive off but I had my 2 daughters with me, in the car and the employees behind her, as witnesses to what was going on. I told her I wasn't fighting for the 2 tacos but was wanting to resolve the issue and couldn't believe she was in charge of the establishment, with her bad attitude towards customers. She closed the window on me, so all I could do was drive off. My heart was beating so fast and my blood pressure went up! I was in disbelief of what just happened at a public restaurant with such an unprofessional "Manager". I've never in my life experienced something like that! To go through all that, for me or my daughter to not even be able to get our birthday reward!

This place never fails, it's open late usually to 11 or 12, sometimes 24 hours... the fajita platter with rice, pinto beans, tortillas, all the taco fixings, and a margarita or cold Mexican beer hits the spot. But the tortillas are always fresh.... Now I live in Delaware & Pennsylvania & Taco Cabana IS BETTER than most Mexican Food restaurants. The same cannot be said if your in the South like Texas where it's not the BEST Mexican food... I am a Hispanic native of South Texas & I know this isn't the best Mexican...BUT on a scale of 1 being bad 10 being best this is about 7-8 AND BECAUSE while everyone is closed this one is open late! If this restaurant was up north and out of the South it would be a Gold mine.... Mexican food is like crack for Anglo Saxons.
