Taco Cabana — Restaurant in San Antonio

This location I've had the displeasure of visiting three separate times. I'm fascinated by the fact that while each visit was bad, it was consistently so from the food to the staff attitudes to the sloppy, ill maintained salsa bar to the sticky floor under the bench-like eating area(s). It's also one of the smallest and hottest locations I've been in. Each time I went, I ordered the same thing I normally do, which is the Cabana Bowl with fajita chicken. The chicken slices was charred on one side, still salmonella bloody pink in the center, and kinda cooked on the other side - a feat, albeit one I don't want to eat. And, yes, the same thing happened - with slight variances in how much was singed, raw, or medium - but that's oddly impressive and gotta count for something, right? RIGHT?? The staff was rude and argumentative each visit, despite being "served" by separate people each time. Talk about great training! And it spills over to the salsa bar and the, ummmm, 'dining' area which consists of wooden picnic table style benches crammed together complemented by sticky concrete flooring. The first two times I was taken there by other people. The third was a first (and only!) date who right that this would be impressive. I guess he was technically right in that it helped make an impression about him upon me to the point where I declined a second date. Anyhow, there's a far, far better Taco Cabana a short ways up San Pedro just before you get to North Star Mall - a five to ten minute drive in heavy traffic and maybe a fifteen to twenty minute venture on VIA. Most of the time this TC's is great. However, the 'skip the line' and order online did not work for us this time. I ordered 20 minutes before I was supposed to pick up. I had my 3 yr old in tow so I thought this was the best option to get to the church on time with 24 tacos in hand. So, I called to let them know I was there and they said it would be a few minutes. That's fine. I was a few minutes early(10:09). The time that it was supposed to be ready( 10:14 on the app) and the time I waited was 10:26. I decided to go in since ID already called from outside. It was sitting on the counter and there was NO line in the drive thru. The time it took for me to get my little one out just to get the food was not worth ' skipping the line' . just something for anyone to watch out for. Especially if you have a child in tow without another parent present. Wish things weren't a ' now' generation so the ones that need help would be able to get help without retaliation or condisention from those serving them. I needed them to bring the tacos out to save time on getting my little one in and out of the car for a large order. I thought that's what 'skip the line' meant. I'll know better next time. I'm super late about this, but I just need to say bring attention to Yesenia and the staff at location 101. I came into order a very specific and big order for a vip client and their crew who was performing in town on September 14th. We pride ourselves in getting everything perfect for the clients and Yesenia took charge and executed the entire order fabulously. She made sure every single detail was handled down to labeling & packaged up the entire order to be loaded right onto the tour busses. The crew was very happy which made for a smooth load out for my otherwise chaotic evening and I will absolutely trust her and her staff with future orders for the theater. I'll also add, that her customer service is what pulled me from ordering from the initial location I'd chosen. When I realized they may not take the care I needed, I called 101. The minute I heard the confidence Yesenia had and willingness to make it happen with care, I immediately left that location and headed to her store. I do not regret it.
