1 ⭐️ for service - I’ve been a patron since they were at their other location (2013) when they had just 4 dining tables and a bar. During that time, the family was also the main wait staff and they were attentive and friendly.

Since then, the slew of revolving waitresses, with bad attitudes, have outshined the homemade comfort food of El Salvador. Tables are always dirty and never cleaned while you’re dining. The waitresses are rude and argue amongst themselves constantly. They gossip about customers in Spanish and make fun of them constantly. They are not properly trained and are a poor representation of centroamericanos.

The worst part of the experience is when we go to pay our bill at the counter. The register guys (excluding the owner’s 2 sons) overcharge and add extra items to your bill!!! My husband and I argue over whose going to “pay the bill” because we’re simply arguing over who has to confront the guy trying to rip us off. They’ll add MISC ITEM $2.50 or EXTRA $2.00 or charge as a large instead of small. Be careful and mindful of how you’re rung up.

Fortunately, San Antonio’s CA cuisine is expanding, so more restaurant options are popping up. An oldie, but goodie, restaurant for authentic pupusas is La Playa off of West Ave. The owner is Salvadorean and she travels monthly to ES for goods and spices. Try La...

Absolutely the worst experience any one could ever recieve. My mother and I are lovers of pupusas , and I'd say for about a year or two we have been looking for a pupaseria, and we did. 3-2 people have recommended this place saying the food is great, yes I was warned there was a wait for the food and we were fine with that. We arrived at the place and were seated by a young lady, and then we got our server for the day. While we were ordering the waitress rolled their eyes, that was the first red flag. We received our food cold and we asked for a sauce and the waitress replied rudely saying "can you wait." That obviously triggered my mom, but that's not all. Once we received the sauce (it's not really a sauce it had vinegar, jalapeño and etc.), it was stuffed and not really able to dig into so, my mom asked if he/she could cut it in half into another bowl and he/she grabbed the sauce and marched away but when he/she did they had spilled the vinegar onto my grandmother . They didn't do honestly anything about it but get us another waiter. Terrible time there, definitely not...

This is the worst tasting food and worst service in town!! The meat on the Caldo de Rez was so old and full of grease and gamy that made the soup stink. After talking to the owner she came out with an attitude as I asked her to taste it, she denied and defused to. I asked for something else then she (the owner) came out again and said to her waitress "tell him that I didn't put any grease on it" while shoving the plate at her. The waitress was so scared because she was going to get charged my food when I asked her to cancel my order. She the owner said to me this is not a Mexican restaurant it's a Salvadorian restaurant, so if you don't like it leave. Then made a scene when I told her not to charge the waitress, because it is not her fault for the lack of quality and horrible customer service by her. I told her is this how treat your customers? Telling them off? Then she said "Get the Hell out of here"! I told her I am and will post my review of your service and low quality of food. Bad attitude and horrible taste. I would not even give it a one star. But because I...

Upon arrival we were never greeted we had to walk up the the waitresses and ask if we just sit or wait to be seated since it’s our first time there . All of them around 4-5 were just giggling standing there and around a few minutes later one came to help us but she has such a RUDE attitude. She seemed bothered that we came we felt super uncomfortable. But I wanted to give them a chance . The food was okay the taste was as expected. However, the longaniza was super burnt and was nasty I did not finish it I’m sure not even roaches would bother trying to eat such disgusting food I usually tip but based on service I decided not to .(see picture ) . I don’t think I’d come back . Tables are old and dirty the whole time we were there I did not see not one person cleaning tables .

Being Salvadorian I was excited to try this place especially since Salvadorian food is so hard to come by in SA. Pupusas including cabbage (aka curtido), the tipico (which they call Desayuno on their menu) including the crema and emanada de platano were all pretty good and definitely authentic. Unfortunately the tamales de pollo were god awful. Dry and flavorless masa. At least the other menu items were a win. Service was a bit lacking but I only ordered food to go so I can over look this aspect. They also have a small market attached where I could get authentic central American foods and goods as well. Overall, I'll return if anything for the pupusas (but also because I dont have a lot of choices in SA).

It is with great disappointment that I am writing this review as I am still sitting in the restaurant and will finish when I get home. I ordered 2 pupusas de arroz (cheese with chicharon) We asked if the restaurant changed ownership or if they had a new person preparing the food and the answer was not at all what we expected to hear. I understand that the owners are not here today as the young waitress explained to us; But the pupusas were burnt and, due to the fact that they were burnt, they tasted horrible. Unfortunately this was just my order. I haven't mentioned the other 4 orders on my table. We drove more than 30 minutes to enjoy a little of our country, but the truth is that this experience was such a great disappointed. After paying for food and other items/almost $ 70.00 tonight will be the last time I order food at this establishment.
