Tarka Indian Kitchen — Restaurant in San Antonio

Got an order from Tarka Indian Kitchen and this is the second time they did NOT give me rice with me meal on a $30 order. I ordered through Uber eats and didn’t know which of the two locations in San Antonio it came from. The First Lady told me that I didn’t order from there and even if I did the Uber pick up person is supposed to check my order anyway (they are NOT and all business staple or take the order shut for safety precautions and in this case my order was stapled completely shut with the order receipt on the outside!). I had to ask the young lady how could an Uber pick up person check the order if they staple shut all orders and sit it in the pickup section? She then started stammering okay whatever i ended the call because both locations were about to close so I had to find out what’s going on.

I called the other location to see if it was ordered there because I just wanted my ride whether I could just pick it up today or tomorrow because it’s the principal of the matter. The guy told me that I didn’t order it through that location before even admitting he pulled up the tablet where they handle said orders and to just call Uber anyway with the issue (weird because businesses will say chargebacks from order apps hurt their company but I digress as I was trying to be honest and get honesty!) but I’ve never had such an issue and run in with rude people like this. I’m starting to feel that they are scamming and cheating people who order through third party apps, SHADY BUSINESS AND SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICES absolutely disgusting! DO NOT DO DELIVERY...

This place is a go to for anyone! Even if your not Indian, this is an amazing place to go to with very delicious food! The Kabobs are amazing although in the frequent trips here I have noticed shrinkflation (which is the quantity decreasing slowly each time) but the quality remains the same, the naan is exceptional and afterwards you can go shop at trader joes across the street with out having to shop hungry! (Which is what I do almost every time!) UPDATE: this review had been up for a while now as 5 stars... however I now have came back to Sadly move it down a few notches... This place has something I do not like now, I mean it always has been this way but I guess I didn't consider it when first reviewing this place, this place does not accept a form of US currency: cash. I have a big problem with places not accepting US currency. You can encourage contact less payments. But you still have to accept valid United States currency. Big problem with that. Food is good. But not liking the no cash thing... Update again... The sodas were the best, and now they replaced the good "stubborn" brand sodas with normal stuff like pepsi and stuff replacing the good stuff. And now even that was broken, it was doing perfectly fine until they changed things up and now the machine dispenses nothing... disappointing. My boyfriend brought me here 2 years ago for the first time and at the time I didn’t really eat Indian food, but I wanted to try it since my boyfriend was excited to try some new Indian food. That first time I ordered the kebabs and they were delicious, their rice is just so perfectly cooked with the perfect flavor, and the orange dressing for the salad is just amazing. He ordered the chicken tikka masala, and he said it was “life-changing”. Keep in mind he lived in Canada for 7 years and said he hadn’t had good Indian food since he got back to Texas. So we kept coming back every time he would come to visit me, and eventually I decided to try the legendary chicken tikka masala and let me tell you... it was, in fact, life changing. The chicken is perfectly cooked and the sauce to chicken ratio is perfect as well. I’ve grown to love Indian food, but more specifically, Tarka, that I have been increasing the amount of spice I want in it gradually and it just gets better. We love it so much that I have to bring some with me when I go visit him (he lives in the woodlands now) and if we are craving Indian and I didn’t bring any with me, we make the drive to Houston just for it. Excellent food, excellent facility, and excellent costumer service....
