Just the facts: walked in completely sober on Thanksgiving with a friend to enjoy (did not) a drink and watch the game. My friend approached the bar to order first round on him, requested two IPAâs. He was informed by a gentleman (who should not be working a bar in hindsight) the Hoppadillo on tap was out and was served two canned IPAs we had never heard of.
My compatriot brought the cans and glasses to the table. Reading the cans I noticed these were ânon-alcoholicâ. A bit taken aback as this has never happened in approximately a thousand or so various bar visits in my life throughout this country, my friend returned to the bar to exchange the cans for an IPA with alcohol content, you know, being a bar and all, being that we did not request a non-alcoholic beverage.
The gentleman behind the bar noticed him standing at the bar but obviously ignored him. I proceed to get up from the bar table a few feet away and inform him that my friend down the bar by where he was served, near the beer fridge needed to return the non alcoholic IPAs for real IPAs with alcohol content. He informed us that is what he ordered. I disagreed and responded âthat is what you offered.â We picked up at this point he seemed a bit off or lost, I walked down to where my friend was, following the âbartenderâ in parallel where we informed him we would just like an IPA with alcohol, a real IPA. He offered up a Rambler. Not knowing what a Rambler was or ever hearing of one, we accepted. Whatever. I mentioned that is fine as long as it has alcohol content. Fine. NotâŚ
I opened the can assuming all was well but no. We were lost. The bartender was obviously lost. This bar is appropriately named. What we poured were waters. Canned water. Again I approached the gentleman who served us, a bit alarmed and concerned at this point really questioning what was going on. He responded that my friend said yes, that is what he wanted and I proceeded to correct him. Raising my voice slightly to drown out the fodder barfly chatter ambience, I informed him this is not good. In a direct and pointed manner but in no way threatening or over the top I informed him this is not cool and we need to return the open cans for an actual alcoholic beverage.
This is where the ACTUAL bartender decides to get involved. The young woman asked me what is going on and I proceeded to explain the chronology that led up to us requesting a third round without even having a first round. At first for a split second she seemed genuinely interested and that she might accommodate the situation. Upon my explanation, she informed me she has IPA and offers me the Hoppadillo. Again, I inform her it is out and that is what has led up to this⌠and she directs the âbartenderâ who was serving us the nonsense to remove the tap handle.
At this point I giver her my card, I donât ask for a refund on my friendâs behalf, and just plead with her for 2 Makers 46 neat, noting we âjust want an alcoholic beverage at this point, please.â By this time the bar is quieting as the locals are getting quite interested as their pal proceeds⌠(paraphrased) she doesnât like my big energy, and that I should consider her working on a holiday. I thank her and share appreciation for everybody working on a holiday. She shares I am making it hard and that I need to relax and that she is training her barbackâŚ. And there it is. The gentleman is not a bartender. Explains a lot.
Over it, with her not conceding that maybe they were slightly off and in the wrong, that we were just served up a total joke of an experience, and vibing this was not going to be corrected in the slightest, I informed her I would like my card back and that we were going to take our business elsewhere and proceeded to exit. Took my card. Leaving, I could hear a (patron) âmaybe thatâs for the best.â My friend lingered behind to inform me some patron got in his face on the way out.
This was definitely far from an inviting experience and would have to say the lousiest bar and bar experience I have ever encountered. Great job at...
Read moreWe got there, sat at the bar and tried ordering food and drinks but the bartender kept ignoring my husband and I. She came over to cash someone out next to us so I took a chance and leaned over the bar to ask if we could order drinks but she didnât even acknowledge me. She then comes close again while sheâs doing something else and looks at us (annoyed/mad) while waving her hand to hurry up, (mind you, says nothing to us at all, only makes gestures) I say two drinks (not done with my order) and she walks away, my husband yells out âmaâam weâd like to order shots tooâ, again looks over, this time from across the bar (ANGRILY) and yells âwell what do you want hurry upâ with accompanied hand gestures to hurry, doesnât step any closer to try to hear us so I speak up and ask for a rumple and well tequila shot, she then asks how I want them like if there was more to a shot order, I say as is and she brings us the shots like 5 minutes after she brings us our drinks and says âthis is all your gettingâ as she sets the shots down. Confused because we hadnât even ordered our food yet, we looked at the time and were trying to figure out if thatâs what she really said because it was still so early but then confirmed when her along with people at the bar top were laughing out loud and looking at us and she says to them out loud âthatâs why you shouldnât be over there talking shitâ. Overall I was really disappointed and taken back by the service I got. My husband and I love going out to shoot pool and have a great time but didnât even get the opportunity to ask for quarters or eat dinner at that. Usually weâre greeted by a bartender, even if theyâre busy, weâre acknowledged and weâre patient of course, as we plan to spend time there, not go in and out so thereâs never a rush on either end. We definitely wonât be coming back, it didnât seem like we were wanted there anyways. We went over to Ricky Bobby bar 5 mins away and had an awesome time, everyone was so nice, they had room to dance and plenty of pool tables! The bartender even remembered our drinks as we kept going back to reorder, needless to say weâre definitely going back to Ricky Bobby bar!! I wouldnât recommend the lost bar and grill to...
Read moreWe went for the fireplace but stayed because of the friendly faces...ps there's not a fireplace (thanks google, even though you were wrong).
The bartender Chance was a great server who's service went above and beyond. The people are chill and the ambiance is low-key, but classy and beautiful. The patrons are friendly and we felt very welcome. Got to speak to the owner and his lady friend, who were both lovely people.
The patio was nice, with music, tables/chairs, picnic benches and a smoker which I'm told is operational and has an excellent attendant when it's fired up.
We came too late for the kitchen which the menu, in itself, is enough to make one want to come back; it's one page, but extensive, varied, and even has vegetarian options. There's a wine list, appetizers, "bar food", pizzas, burgers, and lots of stuff you might not expect. Since the kitchen was close we were invited to order delivery, and did so we could stay. But, Lord do I look forward to trying that menu.
Overall, we had an absolutely great experience, and they were welcoming, attentive, and and courteous - even when I asked for non-alcholic drinks for myself.
This was just the night out my company and I needed, and I'm happy to recommend the Lost Bar to anyone who can keep it just as cool as it was tonight.
Thank you B&J for receiving us so kindly, Chance for taking care of everything whilst still keeping a peep out for any potential trouble, and all the regulars who welcomed us. Plus, looking forward to bring friends to sing badly at the new karaoke option when...
