Whataburger — Restaurant in San Antonio

Lots of good things to say here. Food is always hot and fresh. Dining area and bathrooms are clean. Staff at the counter are friendly and helpful. This is the 75th anniversary of WHATABURGER. They have favorite sandwiches for a limited time only all through the year a different favorite sandwich is being promoted. I don’t think WHATABURGER puts out a bad sandwich of any sort. They are all delicious. Nice background, music and team members come to your table with your order and offer napkins and spicy or fancy ketchup. Soft drinks are self serve. The amazing thing about WHATABURGER is the size of the burger. You definitely need two hands to hold it. Try the pico de gallo burger, it is delicious as are all the burgers and chicken sandwiches they make. Most of the burgers come with mustard, lettuce, tomato pickle onion, but you can add bacon, avocado, cheese, grilled onions, sliced, or grilled jalapeños. I hate that I have to leave a star because one star is too many for this experience. I picked up an online order from this location at approximately 12:40 Sunday morning(5/26/24). The order was ready almost 20 minutes later than the expected time per the app. The young lady at the register was extremely rude as well and took forever to check on my order even though they weren’t very busy. It gets worse from here, I woke up Sunday morning with terrible stomach pain and full blown food poisoning. I spent the rest of the day throwing up and worse. I’m writing this review Monday afternoon still feeling terrible. My order was a burger with no bread just the patties and veggies. I suspect it was either cross contamination or the veggies were bad. First off, first time I've never left a review on a restaurant no matter how it panned out. I don't do this lightly. Second time we've been there. Second time our order was not what we ordered. This time they totally left off the hamburger patty on a #1 hamburger combo with cheese. Absolutely no meat on burger. The second burger did not follow instructions for catsup, pickles and onions only. We had utilized the drive-thru and when we got home is when we noticed the lack of meat. My husband went back to Whataburger (40 minute round trip due to heavy traffic at 5:30) and the only thing the manager said was "sorry, here's an upgraded order of fries". They obviously don't give a flip about customer satisfaction and made that abundantly clear with their total disinterest in how much they inconvenienced us with the total failure of a simple drive...
