THEY SHOULD NOT TAKE RESERVATIONS WHEN THEY ARE CLOSED. THEY MUST UPDATE THEIR ADVERTISING TO REFLECT THAT BUSINESS HOURS HAVE CHANGED. I love the food, enjoyed the service in the past, but after yesterday I will not go back. We had a reservation, found childcare for our littles, drove all the way downtown and they were closed. This is despite 3 different sources that said they would be open: OpenTable (the reservation service), their website and their voicemail greeting. When I mentioned this, they were completely unapologetic for misleading us. That is why I won't return- that was inconsiderate and offensive to me that they didn't care how not updating their operating hours in 3 places caused us so much trouble.
We were exhausted from the week and so we wanted to arrive later than we originally booked, but OpenTable had nothing later except for the following night. I didn't change it because we had no sitter the next night but I called to speak to someone about that and relinquish our earlier spot if others were standing by. I didn't get a person- just a recording, but the recording assured me that the kitchen didn't close until 11:00 p.m., so we opted for arriving after 10, knowing that there could be a wait at best, no availability at worst. We decided to risk it and take a disco nap. The fact that the kitchen was still open til 11:00 meant hope of calamari and a charcuterie board that I was most looking forward to, perhaps at happy hour prices as advertised between 10pm-12am. The website also clearly states that these are the hours. The bar doesn't need reservations and we were planning to enjoy champagne my father bought for my birthday early last month anyway so we were fine to wait for a seat at the bar. When we arrived around 10:15, there was a group gathered in front of a meeting room by a makeshift bar and no host/hostess. There were signs about renovations, but not hours so we went to the front desk and was told that hours changed due to the remodeling. That explained why it was so hard to get a reservation lately (probably fewer tables). I was glad we did valet rather than park across the street because the front desk validated it for us, otherwise we would have just lost that money in addition to childcare and gas. In fairness, at our original reservation time- they were still open, but if we weren't misinformed, we would have arrived earlier or not driven all the way downtown for nothing.
Because I knew that OpenTable offered a reservation after they were closed, I made one for 10:30 the next night (we didn't have a babysitter. It was mostly meant to get their attention so they could fix the misinformation everywhere). I did get a call about the reservation and I told them I knew they'd be closed, only because I learned the hard way the night before. I explained how outdated info in 3 places had sabotaged our date and we drove there for nothing. He was not apologetic, but just said that hours changed due to renovations (how was I supposed to know that?) I asked when the hours changed thinking maybe this was recent and he said it has been several weeks. I said, "don't you think that's long enough to update OpenTable, your voicemail and the website?" They agreed, but weren't concerned at all with the trouble this caused us. Instead, he returned to asking what I wanted to do about the reservation they took when they weren't even open. I said, "Obviously we can't keep it if YOU DON'T." We weren't offered another time, but even if we had been, we wouldn't have the ability to find a sitter on short notice. They really should be a little contrite for not being open when they said they'd be the night before when we did have the ability to go.
They have misinfo everywhere (GrubHub will take a delivery pre-order for 10:45 pm this coming Friday) so I can see missing something like that. But not your reservation service, your own website and recorded greeting. We have been trying to enjoy that champagne my father bought us for weeks now but won't be going back. I will be contacting them to...
Read moreThe experience was ok. My roommate and I picked a place close by because we had plans later. When we got there, the bar was fairly full but one larger party left and two people that came in at the same time as us went to the bar and there was one table of two people. It was understandable why the hostess wasn’t there because it hadn’t gotten busy yet. But I watched multiple servers standing there looking at us. It was maybe 2 minutes before one of them told us the hostess would be right with us. The hostess was nice and tried to seat us close to the back of the restaurant. There were two servers in the back that looked less than pleased and told the hostess it wasn’t good there and then she moved us to a table in the middle of the restaurant. (Note that by the time we have finished and left only one large table was occupied in that area. All the other tables were empty still) The server was fine neither good or bad just fine. I have had better service in cheaper restaurants to be honest. I ordered a cocktail it was $16 and packed to the top with ice, had 4 slices of fruit, and did not have much to drink. I have paid the same for cocktails at nicer places and have gotten much more to drink. Our appetizer we ordered said on the menu it was supposed to come with artisan bread but it was like a cracker. Which is so strange because another table had actual bread with whatever appetizer they got. The appetizer was ok. My roommate and I both got the gnocchi, which we agreed was greasy and was just expensive Mac and cheese with uncooked Brussel sprout leaves dispersed on the top. And the meat that was supposed to come with it, was dried and sprinkled on the top. It reminded me of bacon bits. Our gnocchi was $29 each. There was a smokey smell coming from the kitchen like burning wood. Upon paying our bill which was the most we saw our server, we left. Keep in mind I have worked in restaurants for years and always try to be understanding. I don’t believe in wasting food so we ate everything we ordered. I also don’t eat out much and this was so disappointing and just a waste of almost $100. Just go...
Read moreWe arrived at 5:30 for our reservation for a party of 5. The restaurant was pretty empty so we were seated quickly and ordered our drinks. This is where our experience went downhilk. We waited over 15 minutes for our drinks. Based on that, we ordered appetizers and a bottle of wine quickly. The appetizers were good (calamari, diver scallops, and carcuterie board) and came out relatively quickly---about 15 minutes. We ordered our meal at that time. I had to ask for water refills. The ceasar salads we're good but the tomatoes in the caperese salad were orange so barely ripe. My tomato soup tasted like Ragu spagetti sauce. Another 30 minutes later, our entrees arrived. The lassagna was so burnt on the bottom that you couldn't even cut it. Three of the entrees were luke warm. The waitress disappeared again so we had to flag down a manager to express our displeasure. He promised to straighten it out. We received a 2nd lassagne and it was just as burnt as the fist one. At that point, we decided to just get the lassagne replaced with another pasta. Our Ravioli was one of the luke warm pastas and the new one came out hot and tasted average. The last luke warm pasta was my papperdelle. It came back drier than the Sahara but hot. I ended up asking for extra sauce but when I tasted the white sauce, I was overwhelmed by the flavor of lemons. It was a lemon Alfredo sauce. At this point we decided to cut our losses. The manager never even came back to ask about our new dishes. As one of our party was walking to the restroom, he pulled them aside and told her our meal was comped. He couldn't even come talk to our table. It wouldn't have been so bad but our waitress was also nonexistent during most of our dining experience. We won't be coming back when we're...
