H Salt Fish & Chips — Restaurant in San Bernardino

My first time ever here, I've lived near for years and today I finally tried it. I really wish I've tried it sooner it's the best fish and chips I've ever had. The tartar sauce is delicious, tastes home made for sure. The fish was perfectly crisp and the chips as well both were scrumptious, in harmony with one another dancing together. I would like to add that I tried their coleslaw and it was one of the best I've had it wasn't too much and I could eat it alone. I honestly would go here if I just wanted coleslaw no need to go anywhere else. They've won me and my boyfriend over as forever customers! The soda is also very good I had the Coke. I absolutely love their whole decor and vibe I hope they never change it it's the cutest thing ever very calming and everything I would imagine a fish and chips restaurant looking. By looking at the other reviews people have said it has looked like this for a long time and it even closed and reopened with new owners and the new owners know the previous ones I'm so glad that they kept the decor and games exactly the same I honestly hope it never changes it's perfect the way it is. As cliche and as American as this may sound even though I've never been it reminds me of something out of the UK. The band the Clash popped into my head when I walked in. Totally makes me think of an old school pub. Can't stop saying how much I love it and will be a returning customer. 20/10 this place is a hidden gem and so underated. Also I wanted to add the negative reviews are so bogus they seem so whiney and pointless no joke seems like most (not all but most) are from Karens the food is LEGIT! I feel like you have to try it and not let a few silly reviews deter you from trying...

H & salt fish & chips located in San Bernardino is just OK. Nothing special going on here. From the dry service to the underwhelming food. When I think of fish and chips, I think of juicy cod fillets and fresh potatoes fried to perfection. Unfortunately, here, the fish lacks salt/ seasoning. Now, the fry on it was nice and crispy, but the flavor was bland. The fries were a total disappointment as they're just nasty frozen fries. The hushpuppies had no flavor another disappointment. The fried chicken again lacking salt or seasoning. Coleslaw was not good. Then the tater sauce tasted like watered-down ranch with pickles. Really, the only good thing was the fried zucchinis.

Overall, I wouldn't recommend this joint, or will we...

My heart wants to give them 5 stars. It's ran by an elderly couple and I so want them to succeed.

The issue is it's just not great quality. Don't got get me wrong. I will probably take my family there once a month or so because it is one of a few places to just get fish and chips. It is just that they are dense fried, even the other foods are so packed with batter it's just really heavy.

The fish is ok enough, the fillets are light enough that it's not too fishy.

The chicken can be a little tough sometimes but over all ok if eaten in moderation.

Fries taste like freezer section fries, crinkle fries, but good enough when soaked in vinegar.

The shrimp isn't very good here. It's tough and just tastes old...
