Royal Scoop Estero — Restaurant in San Carlos Park

I was excited to hear that a closer royal scoop ice cream shop was going to be opening up in the area. I took my family (fam of 4) here one evening and everything went fine until the price of 4 single scoop cones totaled out to $30. Listen, I do indeed understand inflation & that everything else went up in the market & coorperations/small businesses had to raise their prices. But what happened to the simple joys of taking your kids out for a treat and paying maybe $10/15 max. & on top of that which baffled me was if I wanted to leave a TIP! which I believe I saw the standard being 10% 15% or 18%. I understand it’s optional & you do not have to but Who genuinely tips on ice cream? Maybe occasionally I maaaay but almost $30 for ice cream is a hard no. Tell your shop owner to pay employees more since the prices are well enough to pay you more than minimum wage. Scooping ice cream is not deemed a “provided service”. It’s your job to do so. it’s silly every single time I see a TIP option pop up. Lots of companies and small business have been trying to profit waaay above their means. I do also understand, paying rent, ordering supply, paying workers,etc. (I too work in the restaurant industry I know about ordering, calling Sysco, Cheney bros, us foods for finding the best deals in food without lowering the quality of food) But almost $8 for a cone of ice cream is insane. I’m sure one big tub that royal scoop ice cream orders from their distributors cost maybe $8-$15. After one cone sale they make their profits. Sadly I will not be returning back, I felt ripped off rather than happy about indulging my ice cream. To finish this off on a brighter note…The shop is cute, it’s in a great location, the atmosphere is very nice & the employees were also friendly & patient when my kids & I wanted to try samples. As a local, I was excited to give Royal Scoop a try, especially since it's closer than our usual favorite, Sweet Melissa's. But what I thought would be a convenient treat turned into a complete letdown.

First off, the portion sizes were shockingly small. My wife ordered a wafer cone with one scoop, expecting a decent serving. Instead, she received a sad, miniature portion. I ordered a double scoop in a waffle cone, but something felt off immediately. I realized the waffle cone was much smaller than a regular one, and yet they had the audacity to charge $2.00 for it. To make matters worse, the sprinkles—yes, the sprinkles—were an additional $2.00 for sprinkles that if counted maybe are 7 sprinkles total--ridiculous.

The total for a small wafer cone and my two-scoop mini waffle cone? $20.43. That’s right—twenty bucks for tiny cones and an underwhelming experience. It felt like I was being scammed rather than served. The whole thing was an overpriced disappointment from start to finish.

For the price they charge, I expected at least a satisfying portion of ice cream. Instead, we were left frustrated and vowing never to return. I wanted to express my heartfelt thanks for creating the most perfect ice cream birthday cake for my son! It was absolutely delicious and beautifully made—exactly as he had envisioned it (chocolate on the bottom layer, cookies & cream on the top layer, crushed cookies in between, topped with crushed cookies on the top with fudge). Since he doesn’t care for traditional birthday cakes, your creation was truly the highlight of his celebration.

Your staff was so friendly and accommodating throughout the process, which made the experience even more special. You went above and beyond to ensure everything was just right, and we couldn’t be happier with the result.

Thank you for helping make my son’s birthday so memorable. We’ll definitely be back for more of your amazing treats!
