Our favorite Chicago style pizza in the Bay Area. I grew up in Illinois and love deep dish pizza. Lou Malnati's is my favorite in Chicago.
We usually order online, and their website is pretty easy to use. The pizza is consistently good (unlike a nearby competitor that sometimes disappoints), and they never mess up our orders. The curbside pickup is awesome, because you don't have to deal with finding parking - just call when you're there and they bring the pizza to your car! The only downside is that I then have to spend 10 torturous minutes in the car with the intoxicating smell of savory pizza sauce and buttery crust. Many times I've been tempted to pull over and eat a piece.
Blue Line not cheap, and the pizza is small relative to the ones you'd get in Chicago, but that's okay - with all the butter and cheese I don't need to eat ginormous pieces. We always over order because it's deelish as leftovers. I might even be eating it for breakfast right now! Both the Blue Line (aka Little Star) and Vegetarian pizzas are great, so we often get them half-half. The restaurant is also nice - they have magna doodles to entertain the kids and a full bar for the adults with a good...
Read moreThe food was great. The service was not that great - I went for a curbside pick up of my order(sunday evening) , even waited for 10 more minutes after their slated time. In the website they ask for your car model/make and they will deliver it to you at the parking lot - that didn't happen. Apparently there is a number you need to call once you reach there - which I called and told them am ready for pickup. The teenaged sounding voice said we'll deliver it in a few min. Waited for another 15 min - nothing happened. I then just went inside from the backdoor (I thought maybe the place is too busy, giving it a benefit of doubt) - to my surprise it was empty inside. I asked the lady (I think she was the bartender - not sure) that I came for pickup - and she looked up my order - which was ready for pick up. Setting expectations about not being 'hangry' due to a lot of orders and that you deliver on time is fine, but violating your own set of expectations isn't. So much for the tip and the empathy I had for...
Read moreI love Blue Line! We usually do take-out, but we've eaten at the restaurant a few times. We were there last night with friends and our baby, after I had screwed up dinner at home. We were seated right away, and they gave our daughter one of those magnetic drawing tablets, which she had a lot of fun with. The staff is always great, and there were several little kids in there last night, as it's a good family friendly place.
The food is always good. IMHO, they've got the best Chicago style pizza in the Bay Area (at least of the places that I've tried). They're also one of the few places where the take-out is just about as good as eating it in the restaurant, which is a trick in itself. The Caprese salad is always a good choice as...
