This past Saturday my friends and I made our first trip to San Clemente. We had a nice lunch and visited the pier and other locations when E. said she wanted to have a peanut butter cookie. So we did a search and found the Sugar Blossom Bake Shop was not too far away and went for a visit. Some background. I donât eat a lot of baked goods. The last time I had a cookie or brownie or cake was over six months ago. And I wasnât planning on having anything at the shop. I was just along for the walk. Well, when we arrived we were standing in the shop, looking at the display cases, and I thought to myself, âYou know, youâre on vacation and you havenât had a baked good in quite a while. And though you are gluten free, thereâs a brownie over there that is also gluten free and you might like to have just one.â So I bought myself a Sugar Blossom Bake Shop brownie. It was a pretty good size. And I sat at a table outside the shop just admiring it. The color. The texture. I broke off a piece and placed it into my mouth. And it was as if it melted. Melted and softly fell apart and my tongue said, âHey, hey, are you listening to me? Do you taste what I taste?â And I nodded oh yes! And it was so good. I mean, my mouth is watering now, more than a day later, thinking about the sweetness of that brownie. And you know what? Iâm going to go back to San Clemente. And Iâm going to go back to the Sugar Blossom Bake Shop. And Iâm gonna go up to counter and buy another brownie.
I know this world and its inhabitants need a lot of help and every day I do what I can to make it better. But once in a while, (or maybe a little more oftener than that), itâs important to stop and smell the brownies, especially one from the Sugar Blossom. Hope you are all safe and...
Read moreJust wanted to share my experience so another bride doesnât open her cake on her wedding day and want to cry. I called the bakery over a month before our wedding and told them I wanted a specific cake I took the picture off their website and emailed it to the woman telling her I wanted that specific cake with the flowers and everything and she said no problem we can do that - she never said they were not able to provide flowers never told me anything other then âyes we can do thisâ. After our ceremony and our meal we went to open the box to our cake to find a plain white cake with NO decorations that were promised. I wanted to cry it was so upsetting to find a horrible looking cake. I called and was finally able to get ahold of someone a few days later only for them to say that I signed a contract apparently in tiny writing it says they donât supply fresh flowers they didnât take responsibility for anything it was so upsetting because they could have told me this when I first ordered so I would have had the chance to choose a different cake but I wasnât given that opportunity and I canât go back it was one day the most important of my life and the cake was ruined. They shouldnât have pictures of cakes on their website that they arenât able to do and they should be telling their customers the truth not lying and saying they can do things and it doesnât happen. Very disappointed in this bakery and...
Read moreI needed vegan cupcakes for the birthday boy, so I was happy to see that Sugar Blossom had not only vegan, but also gluten free options. When I arrived on Saturday morning, I had to wait for the people in front of me to get their coffees and pastries. (Good sign!) I bought eight different cupcakes for our little family birthday party. Imagine how disappointed we were when I served cupcakes so dry that they were almost inedible. I think that the cupcakes were probably a week old. What a shame! I will not go back to try any of the other...
